Is the back of the neck glossy?

It is not glossy like the USA models. It is more of a Satin feel.

How much different is this than the american?

I don't remember a finger rest, so I'm just wondering.

Hmm... I thought it was the MIJ/CIJ's with the gloss, ala Geddy and company. Good to hear that's not the case. Now to see if I can scrape up funds...

From what I can tell there is not much difference. I think the necks are nicer because they have a satin finish and the USA models have a glossy finish. Also the thumbrest on the USA models are above the strings. Both models ship with the thumbrest and plate but you have to put them on. As far as the sound, I think one sounds just as good as the other.

By the way the s/n is B0025xx which dates this to '85-'86 from the Fender website. Excellent condition for a bass 20+ years old.

The MIJ 75RI was introduced in 1995. The japan serials alphabet started over around 99/00.

These are great basses. I have to say that the one I previously owned was one of the best jazzes I have ever played. I would think that this one is no exception.

Bump for a great bass.

Have you got any better pics of the body to show the grain, front and back?

Eye candy for me and it might help it sell
