!!sold!!
For sale is my 1998 MIM Fender Jazz 5 string. Finish is Midnight Wine (red) finish with a beautiful pearloid pickguard.
This is from the original run of the MIM Jazz 5-ers which are quite cool and have a few distinct design differences from the current version which I think make this bass better. They are:
-Stock Gotoh tuners were feature on the bass for finer tuning and lighter weight vs. the standard tuners used in the new edition.
-Headstock is a streamlined 5-in line headstock vs. the 4+1 featured in the current model for a more classical Fender look and better balance.
-A long straight "three in the tree" string tree for the A-G strings vs the standard two string tree on the newer versions.
-The finishes on the old run were more varied. Current models only come in Sunburst and Black as far as I can tell.
The bass itself is a great player and in really great condition. Good balance and not that much heavier than a standard Jazz 4 if at all. The neck feels good and Fender really got it right on the string spacing. Does not feel cramped to play like some 5-ers.
Great traditional jazz tone wtih a really big and tight B string. Very impressive.
As for the condition of the bass, I would characterize this bass as being in remarkably great condition probably 9.5/10 or better. Just a small scratch in a small area on the back of the body and a tiny scratch on the side which I don’t thinks registers on the side photo I took. Also a tiny compression ding on the back of the neck behind the 3rd fret.
Asking price is $SOLD obo shipped to the CONUS. This includes a Fender gig bag and as always, I will ship it VERY well packaged and protected.
No trades for now unless you are making me an offer I can't refuse (i.e. better value than cash price)! I am selling off a bunch of my stuff (see my other classifieds) as I am pretty much out of space.
Thanks for looking and please feel free to PM me if you have any questions.
Thanks.
