FS: Fender Marcus Miller 4-String Jazz, w/ CS 60s Pups and HSC

I bought this brand new in '08 I think. I've installed Fender Custom Shop '60s pickups for a truly vintage sound.

The bass has minor wear: the pickguard shows wear from slapping; there's a small ding on top of the headstock; and the body is pretty much pristine. The pickup covers shows some residue from electric tape I had put on there to prevent the strings from hitting the pickups poles.

The bass comes with the brand new Fender hardshell case. I no longer have the stock pups.

I am asking for $750 shipped to Continental US. I am in Los Angeles and would accomodate local pickups.

Only trades I would consider +/- cash: Stingray SLO Special; American '75 Jazz RI; Carvin SB5000; or Fender American Deluxe V.

And let me explain how and why I ended up installing the 60s Custom Shop pups.

I though the stock pups were too thin and nasal. I had to always roll off the neck pup to get a fingerstyle tone, otherwise it sounded too muddy. So I installed the Ultra Jazz pups. While those opened up the sound for a great fingerstyle tone, I lost all the grind and umph. The slap tone especially was gone.

So I wanted to go back to single coil pups again. And I settled on the 60s because it gives you a fat, thumping fingerstyle tone with both pups full on. And you still maintain that nasal slap tone. Overall, a more usable tone than the stock pups.

Here is a clip I made last night--after midnight! So excuse the sloppy work.

The first part is in a mix--both pups full.

And then I play the bass by itself: first witht he both pups on full, then just the bridge pup, then the neck pup. The bass is played in passive, going through the SWR marcus miller pre, with some mids cut and bass boosted just a little.

The strings have maybe a month left. But you can hear how fat it sounds.
