As much as I don't want to, I need to sell this beautiful made-in-Mexico Fender Jazz. I originally bought it used around 2006 or 2007 and treated it well, then lent it to a friend at whose place it went largely unplayed. I just got it back, and unfortunately, due to medical issues, I'm selling off the vast majority of my bass gear. My loss is your gain, and hopefully this bass goes to a good home.
Here's the specs on it:
- Fender MIM jazz bass, off-white
- Tortoiseshell pickguard from (IIRC) guitarfetish. I will also include the original white guard (though I don't know why you'd want it - it looks way better with the tort!)
- I can't confirm this, but the person I bought it from claims that the bass has the same pickups as the USA jazz basses. Is there a way I can check the pickups to verify? They do sound pretty great.
- Shielded cavity (used shielding paint from StewMac)
- Badass II bridge
- Dunlop straplocks
- Includes a cheapo gig bag (not pictured) and the pink strap in the photo
I'm not going to pretend the bass is perfect. Since it's gone largely unplayed in the past couple years, here's its issues in the spirit of full disclosure:
- It's definitely due for a setup and cleaning (the bridge pickup is way too close to the strings).
- The tone pot also has a little bit of a crackle in it though you can probably fix that with some deoxit (or just replace the tone pot).
- It's missing the knob cap on the neck pickup volume knob (i may have one laying around though). You can find and attach one easily for a couple bucks.
- There are a couple small dings on it. This is a player bass, not something to sit in a showroom. While in my possession (or my friend's), however, the bass was never gigged.
I live in Chicago, IL and I really don't want to ship this thing. I'm asking $300, and you can come by and play it before you drop your money on it.
Let me know if you need any more information or any other questions you might have.
