FS: Fender Precision Bass Deluxe 5 string

Sign in to disble this ad
2006 Fender Precision Bass Deluxe 5 string.

This bass has been discontinued by Fender. Made in America. Here's the text from an online product listing for this instrument:

"This premium ash-bodied P Bass is a stunning piece of Fender handiwork. The bass's graphite-reinforced maple neck has a modern C shape. Appointments include deluxe Lite-Bass tuning machines, a chromeplated bridge that permits string-thru or top-loading, a new design split single-coil pickup (mid position), and a humbucker at the bridge. The Fender Precision Bass also has 3-band active EQ with master volume and a pan pot for pickup blend. Great looking, great sounding, and highly dialable. Includes hardshell bass case."

Features include
-maple neck and fingerboard
-mother of pearl inlays on the fretboard
-montego black finish (from the Fender color chart)
-gold colored pickguard
-split coil hunbucking precision pickup (neck position)
-humbucking soapbar pickup (bridge position)
-bass boost/cut
-treble boost/cut
-variable midrange boost/cut
-master volume
-pickup selector pan pot
-5 bolt neck attachment
-hardshell case

The instrument plays great, sounds great and looks very sharp. The B-string sounds tight and focused. Body has some minor cosmetic dings. I'm selling it because it's just not my sound anymore.

Price is $1,000.

NYC/NJ area sales preferred. I will entertain trades for the following instruments: Modulus VJ, Rickenbacker 4001/4003, or Fender Roscoe Beck V (sunburst only).

More images available in next post. PM me if you're interested.

Getting a bunch of hits off of my craigslist posting for this bass, but not so much here at TB. I'm more of a lurker here. But I post regularly over at the Low down Lowdown under a different user name. Hence the low feedback here.

Bumping this up.

An FYI, I'd really prefer to do this as a NYC metropolitan area deal. I've seen far too many reports of scams and was nearly the victim of one myself.

FWIW, that's actually a 2005 model. DZ5 is 2005. Also, the painted bodies are alder, not ash. Regardless, these are absolutely smokin' basses. Fender shoulda' kept making them. Just heard the Spinners tonight and the bass player was using one. Sounded awesome. I also have one and can attest to how great they are.
