FS Fender Precision Bass with an extra fretless (Squire) neck (price drop)

I bought this Highway One P-bass new in November 2008 from a local shop. I just fell in love with the honey blond color. It’s a 60th Anniversary edition so it was on the wall for a while before I bought it. It plays and sounds great.

Later I picked up a Squire P-bass neck off of eBay. I pulled the frets and refinished the head and added a Fender decal. This was all a big experiment. I have some experience with woodworking and finishing and I basically wanted to see if I could do this. After pulling the frets I filled the slots, with the exception of the ends on the E side of the fingerboard, with walnut wood filler. I then filled the ends with lighter color pine wood filler. I did this so it would be a little easier to see on stage. After installing the Fender decal I sprayed the head with 4 coats of polyurethane and lightly sanded it to remove the decal edge line. I got a little aggressive with the sanding and lifted a little of the ink. I should have put 6 coats on it. The fretless neck is fully functional and plays well. It’s great because if I need a fretless it only takes me 15 or 20 minutes to swap necks and to restring with a set of flats I have for that specific purpose. If I were a little more serious about it I’d have a luthier set it up, and if I were THAT serious I’d buy a fretless.

The bass is in mint condition. Great neck and action. I have it strung with a new set of DR Highbeams. I replaced the Vintage mint pickguard with a white pearloid one. The fretless neck is in good condition (8.5/10?). When I pulled the frets there were a couple of small chips of rosewood that pulled up. I filled these with walnut filler. Also there are some light string marks on the fingerboard.

Extras:

Squire neck fretless conversion.
White pearloid pickguard w/original p/g included
Fender HSC, black tolex (no keys)
Set of D’Addario Chromes flatwound strings for fretless conversion. These were installed and used twice.

I have 100% (2) feedback on TB and 100% (40) on theBAY (mike53) of which at least 15 are basses.

I treat people in a courteous respectful manner and expect the same.

I have a little over $1000 invested.
$750 shipped CONUS . I accept Paypal,

I don’t have much on my GAS list but I may be interested negotiating for a Skyline Hollow body or Decade

Extra pictures available.

Lower price + free shipping

It looks like Highway Ones aren't bringing what they should. It's a shame because they are surprisingly nice basses. Plus the fact that this one is in pristine condition. But I've got 6 basses and only 5 wall hangers..lol..

anyway I'll let it all go for $750 shipped CONUS...
