FS: Fender Roscoe Beck IV Honeyburst/rosewood/HSC/Case candy

Sign in to disble this ad
For sale: ’03 Fender Roscoe Beck IV 4-string. This is the single finest bass Fender has ever made (IMHO). Jazz taper neck, modern jazz style body, humcancelling pickups with the most ridiculous tone variations available on a passive bass. A 3-way switch controls the pickups, and each pick up has a series/parallel/single coil switch, as well as a push/pull tone control with 2 different tone variations. Honey-burst finish with a maple neck and rosewood slab fingerboard with Hipshot ultra-lite tuners with a Hipshot D-tuner on the E-string. I’m the 2nd owner, but it still has all the case candy including original sales receipt, hang tags, truss rod wrench, case keys, Fender strap, and documentation for the plexi-glass “bridge” (aka willis ramp) for between the pick ups. It’s all packaged in a vintage style Fender black tolex case with the orange plush lining just like they did in the 60’s. The frets have very little wear, and the front of the bass and the neck are in nearly 100% condition. The back has the typical rash from the first owner wearing a belt while playing. There are no scratches through the finish, but there is one fairly deep scratch (still not through the finish, and I couldn’t get a pic of it) and a small spot on the inside of the lower cut away that has some scratching that’s worth mentioning and I tried to get a pic of it. The pics show a bunch of my greasy finger prints (it's what I get for taking pics while eating sausage I guess ) but I can get cleaner pics for you if you'd like. I’d say over all the bass in 100% functional and 90-95% aesthetically. I recently set up the bass and gave it a fresh set of super long D’Addario Pro-steels run through the body and installed the pick up ramp. I’m asking $1125 shipped in the lower 48 OBO. I’d really like to stay away from trades, but if you want to dangle stuff in front of me please make sure it has 5 strings

8.5 lbs on the bathroom scale, but I'd put it closer to the 9 side of things, as I don't fully trust that scale. My wife would agree

Most everybody has an extra kidney they're not doing anything with. Put it to work this holiday season! Buy your self a bass and the family lots of cool presents by selling it on the black market!

I've got the same bass too! I'll bet you will regret selling it, but on the bright side, if you do you can still buy another one unlike the RB V.

This is a very sweet bass. I've had the chance to play it and I have to say, it's one of the best basses Fender ever made.

I have exactly the same bass and I will never sell it. I own many basses includes stingray, sterling, G&L L-2000 USA, L-2500, etc .., but I always come back to this bass. The G&L basses are great, but too noisy and not punchy as the Roscoe Beck. This one is a keeper.

Are the pickups for the 4 and the 5 string the same? Nice bass.
edit: o.k. I just A/B'd it with pics of the 5.
