FS: 2003 Fender Roscoe Beck IV in Lake Placid Blue with Rosewood Neck with matching LPB headstock.
Selling my gorgeous Lake Placid Blue 2003 Roscoe Beck IV bass. Comes in the original hard shell case with most of the case candy. I just put a brand new set of D'Addario XL Chrome Flatwounds on it last month.
THE GOOD STUFF: This bass is
very exceptionally clean, and by that I mean it has NO corrosion or rust of any kind. Has been kept in a dry environment, and it is in superb condition except for three very minor spec/chips. I have about 35 high-resolution & closeup photos that I can email upon request. The neck is LIKE NEW, super straight, and the tuners, string tree, frets, pickups, glass finger ramp, contreol knobs, toggle switches, bridge are all shiny and LIKE NEW. No rust or oxidation or corrosion whatsoever.
The original Fender hardshell case comes with most of the case candy and the case is very clean and has no odors, etc.
The negative stuff:
The negatives on this bass are very minor in nature. There are three tiny blemishes in the finish only. One chip is about halfway between the bridge and the cord input jack. The other is on the bottom of the bass body about 5" down from the strap button about level with the input jack. And the last is a tiny tiny spec of paint missing right in top of the body at the very center top of the upper cutaway. All of these are very minor chips and they only chipped the finish, they did not indent the wood. It was caused when one of the control knobs (that didnt have its set-screw set tight enough) came off in the case and bumped into the finish.
There are two blemishes on the case that are minor. I have photos of these as well. One is where the wood cracked on the lower portion of the case below the right latch are. I had a cabinet builder friend of mine inject some high-quality wood glue down into the crack and he then put it in a wood clamp for two days and it set well and has not failed. You can see a very fine line in the photos below the right case latch where the vinyl shows a very think hairline split where the crack occurred. The only other blemish is an indention/surface crease in the left latch itself in the chrome.... the latch works fine but if you can look closely you can see an indention right in the middle of in the little spring loaded latch. Other than these the case is in exceptional, and clean shape.
The only reason I am selling is I have become a died-hard Telecaster Bass man. This bass should be in the hands of someone that is ready to play it. It sounds fabulous. I recently had it checked by Steve Hickerson of Tulsa Guitar and Electronics (long-time Fender tech/guru at Fender service center... this guy even worked on Clapton's original 1956 black Stratocatser back in the 1970's when Carl Radle would bring it in between tours for repairs!). He said the bass needed very little adjustment whatsoever when he checked it.
Other than the very minor cosmetic blemishes, this is one spectacular axe that has had probably no more than 8 or 9 hours of play time since new. Also, Fender Musical Instrument COmpany has announced that it has discontinued production of the Roscoe Beck basses. This is a good opportunity to own a unique, well-designed bass that is no longer in production.
