FS: Fender Tony Franklin fretless ugraded, dead mint, 8.0 lbs

Sign in to disble this ad
SOLD SOLD SOLD Beautiful TF fretless. The original owner literally never played this. Dead clean condition. I swapped Hipshot ultralight tuners and the bass is 8.0 lbs and balances beautifully. These basses are very hard to find. I like this a lot but prefer my Rob Allens so this rarely gets played. The facts:

Fender Tony Franklin fretless
Alder body, maple neck, ebony unlined fingerboard
Sunburst, tort pickguard

Action is fast and low

Replaced the original Fender tuners with Hipshot ultralights (will include original tuners)
Installed Schaller straplocks (will include original strap buttons and Schaller pieces for strap)
Will include a new Fender SKB ATA case

$1350 shipped in the conus.

Wow,
You tempting me.
Like what you did with the tuners.
Never was a fan of the Hipshot.
Bass must be lighter with these tuners too.
Was saving for a fretless 5-string, BUT ?
NO THE GAS IS BACK !!!!!

The Hipshot tuners make a big difference. I have an accurate scale, and the bass was a bit over 8.5 lbs with the original tuners and had some neck dive. With the Hipshots it is 8.0 lbs and has perfect balance. If you want the D-tuner capability back Hipshot makes a lightweight one that would add a tad more weight. And of course the original tuners come with the bass - you can sell them or restore to the original spec. The case is a significant upgrade over the heavier (and not as tough) wooden ones. It has the built-in TSA locks.

Am willing to entertain offers but I have a fair amount into the bass and am not in a panic sale. You would be hard pressed to tell this from a new bass - I've gigged it twice and otherwise it has hung on the wall. The previous owner evidently bought it and never played it. I have the action set up very low. It also has adjustable pole pieces on the bridge pup (I've dialed it in for optimal balance with the P). Great bass and hard to find. About the perfect spec imho - I'm just hopelessly addicted to my Rob Allens for fretless gigs.

Really nice. bass. I've debated a fretless for some of my jazz stuff (as the EUB is gone) but I don't think I can spend this much. Bump.
