I picked up a Fernandes 5'er a little while back to use on gigs and it is truly a great sounding jazz style bass. I contacted Fernandes with serial and they advised it is a 2001 Fernandes Retrospect 5 X (Made in China) with an upgraded Gotoh quick release bridge.
The good: The neck is great. Reminds me of the Sterling 5 or Peavey 5 neck. Thinner than most and a more narrow nut width. I have to measure to get exacts. The truss rod works great, bridge hardware works as it should (bridge looks like a GOTOH
quick release 5), pickups are clear. No sharp fret edges. Action is pretty low, very playable. 9.2lbs on my bathroom scale.
The other than good: Mostly cosmetic. This bass was gigged. Paint chips I have tried to detail in photos. Also on a side note the low B tuner is missing the washer under the nut for the tuner. It was like that when I got it, still works fine (cheap fix). Some of the pole pieces on the pickups have a slight bit of oxidation. Also, wanted to make sure I am clear about the paint chips lol.
I have a full set of DR Dragonskins Neons on the bass that show some use. Also, those knobs are extra I had sitting around, it came with silver knobs. I will put the silver knobs back on if you want.
Here are some pics: $175 shipped
