FS: Fodera Emperor Bolt-on 5

Sign in to disble this ad
Big price drop!! Now asking $4400 shipped in the US

This is a 1995 Fodera Emperor 5 bolt-on in great condition.

Body wood is white ash with a curly ash top. It seems to go from a quilt at the neck end to a flame at the bridge. Beautiful birdseye maple fingerboard. Mike Pope preamp with Lane Poor pickups.
Apparently the original Lane Poor pickups were replaced, probably with Seymour Duncans though I haven't been able to confirm that yet

Included are two custom made ramps. These were mounted with double sided tape and I've removed them. In doing so I discovered the only issue with this bass. There is some discoloration from where the ramps were mounted, primarily between the pickups. I don't think this is due to the adhesive, I think it's because the ramps were presumably mounted a long time and the area outside the ramp has yellowed somewhat. It looks to me like a center section on a neck-thru and never bothered me but it's there and I feel I've reflected that in my price. Of course if you like having a ramp then it won't bother you at all!

There is some slight tarnishing on the tuners.

Bass sounds and plays as you would expect from a Fodera.

Comes with a OHSC that's seen some bumps and bruises but protects the bass well.

I'm asking $4900 shipped in the US. Not really looking for trades but you can ask. It would have to be something really special and involve some cash from you

Lots more pics here.

As far as I know Lane Poor never made pickups with exposed poles, so those may be something else.

Beautiful bass though...good luck!

Hmm I'll check into that. Jason told me that it originally was equipped with Lane Poors and I was told that the bass was all original. Could these by Seymour Duncans, I know a lot of folks like these in their Foderas?

It would be a good thing to have the Duncan single coils. I've owned too many Foderas and the ones with Duncan single coils sounded the best!

Spacing is adjustable on those, from 17 to 19 i'd say

Bump for a sweet 21

Although according to our records the bass did originally come with Lane Poors...those are not Lane Poors. Probably Duncans -- although impossible to tell without seeing the wires in the cavity.

In terms of Bridge Spacing...you can get 18.5 - 20.0 on a standard Fodera Bridge with the standard being 19.0 mm...

I got a couple of PMs on this suggesting I research the price a little more. Seems I was comparing to set necks and bolt ons don't fetch quite as much.

One sold on TB for $4500 and a well used one went for $4200 on Ebay so I'm dropping my price by $500 to $4400. Will still include shipping in the US.

This is heading to the East Coast now so it looks like a done deal. I'm closing the thread for now, thanks for all your interest.
