FS - FrankenFender

Sign in to disble this ad
Selling off some gear to make room for new gear! And, honestly, to help fund an upcoming move.

This is a great player of a FrankenFender. The body is a pre-1973 P-bass body with a Lindy Fralin pickup. Unfortunately, the body was poorly stripped and refinished (before I got it). Currently set up with a BadAss II bridge

The neck is a Moses jazz-width graphite bad boy. I had Mike Lull redo the fretwork in 2009. Plays like a dream.

Currently strung with DR Black Beauties.

Looking to get $1,000 $700 shipped CONUS.

Sorry for the bad pics!

I had originally thought the body was a 1966 based upon the serial number. I am thinking it is around a 1972, so I've adjusting the price and posting accordingly.

There is not a top-side route for the pickup wiring, which is consistent with pre-1973 P-bass. I tore it apart and the neck pocket has too much black respray to be of much help, other than I noticed 5 holes (4 for the neck screws and one that doesn't go all the way through). This is consistent with my 1972 (smaller hole toward the top set of holes for the neck screws). My complete, all original 1966 has only the 4 holes for the neck screws.

I also peeled back enough of the black respray to see that there is no dowel fill on the back near the serial number plate. Again, this is more consistent with an early 1970s, as my all-original 1966 has a clearly visible dowel fill. My 1972 doesn't have a dowel fill on the back.

I may be interested in a trade involving a semi-hollow or hollowbody bass, like a Jack Cassady, Guild, etc. Just throwing it out there. Would also consider a Fender Roscoe Beck 4 string. But, cash is king and I need the king!

After tearing apart the bass, I was wrong about the body being 1966. I think it is around 1972, so I've adjusted the price.

Thanks.

I am happy to shoot one, but there isn't a logo or anything on the headstock. It is a standard "Fender" shape. The Moses logo (imprinted) is on the neck itself. Or, let me know if it is the tuners you want to look at.

I changed my mind, could I get a shot of the headstock?

Thanks.

That is my old bass, she is a player, I think it is a late 60's early 70's body, with plenty of 70's "big 'ole belt buckle" scratches. I remember it being nice and light too.
I wish I could buy it back
