Hate to get rid of my Wicks, but in the end I'll have paid off some debt and will end up with an awesome Sadowsky. So, this German hunk of tone must go!!
This bass is the fretless companion to this bad boy: FS: 1990 Warwick Thumb 6 Neckthru
Can't say enough about how these basses really slice through AND wrap around a live mix. Sound of Wood indeed. This particular axe is a growly, perfect representation of a modern fretless bass. It can do a Jaco tone if you want, but its inherent tone is big and in-your-face. The Mwah sound that everyone talks about is there in spade, to the point that I had to be careful not to overuse that sound. Extremely responsive to technique.
Although I'm absolutely in love with older Warwicks, this bass (circa 2006 I believe) dispels all the notions that newer Wicks don't quite add up. The construction of this instrument is top notch in every which way, with a relatively thin neck for a Warwick. Personally, I think the Bubinga on this one looks better than the wood on my 1990 Thumb 6, and I don't really notice a difference tonally in the ovankol neck versus the older bass' wenge. If anything, this fretless has a little bit more midrange due to the J Pups versus the 6's soapbars.
Bass is goin for Price lowered to $1800 shipped.. No trades, and no international buyers please.
Thanks for looking.
Luke

It seems that the wife would rather have some money in our bank than me have an amazing fretless. Her pointing out that I just snagged a staggeringly-cool Sadowsky NYC PJ5 was compelling evidence.
So, let's put this one at $1800 shipped. I"d prefer a MO at this point rather than take a huge paypal hit. |

Warwick has certainly had some misses for me in recent years, but this fretless breaks the mold. Awesome tone. Wish circumstances were different.
I'll take another $100 hit on this and go with $1700 shipped. Prefer MO at this point. |
