FS/FT: '01-'02 MIM Fender 60s Reissue Jazz Bass

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey, everybody!
This is your chance to own a sweet-playing 2001-2002 MIM Fender 60s Jazz Bass that is a tremendous addition to any collection. Features are all period-correct: three-tone sunburst finish, rosewood fingerboard and a maple neck with authentic vintage tint. Please note so there is no confusion: This bass is so well done that even several experienced luthiers have been fooled into thinking it's an 60s MIA (it's not).

There are two major spots where the finish has been damaged (or, if you like, "naturally relic-ed"): on the upper body contour (as shown) and outside the neck pocket. None of these damaged areas ("character dings") are visible from the front.

Also, in the spirit of full disclosure, you should know this bass' truss rod adjusts at the heel instead of at the nut, which means you have to remove the neck from the body to accomplish that adjustment. A slight hassle, but that's all part and parcel of the authentic vintage experience.

This bass is very nicely shielded with copper foil in the cavities; that's the only thing that isn't stock on this bass. The pickups sound amazing, very authentic. I haven't once thought of replacing them.

The bass ships to the continental US only. Paypal please. $400.00 with free shipping. Will also consider trades for a comparable six-string guitar or bass amp. Post here or PM if you prefer. Thanks!

Indeed. Fortunately for me, this isn't my only one or I'd be muy triste.

Additional info: Bass has been recently set up by a luthier who judges the frets to be in excellent shape.

IMO, it's really nice. The finish on the back of the neck and headstock is lovely, and it plays very well.

At the suggestion of a fellow TBer, I am providing a bit more history regarding this bass. Following a $125.00 fret job by a very reputable luthier, this thing plays great. As detailed in an earlier thread here on TB, I did have another repair tech (apparently incorrectly) tell me the neck was hosed and needed replacing. This lead to a very frank discussion with the second guy saying he could either earn $125 from me to fix the present neck or $250 for a new AllParts neck, and he said in my shoes he'd do the fret job. At the end of the day, the instrument for sale is in good shape and plays exceptionally well.

so what exactly was the issue here? i recently bought one of these off of ebay and had to return it to the seller because the neck would not straighten with the rod maxed. when you say fret job, did you get a refret or a leveling?

Those "character dings" look rather significant.

I believe so; it seems to bend both ways when I do it. In fairness to a prospective buyer, however, let me double-check with the second repair person for the definitive scoop. Stand by.
