FS/FT: 1967 Fender Coronado I (excellent condition)

Sign in to disble this ad
This bass is now for either sale or trade, as I am in need of a vintage P bass much more than I am in need of a hollowbody.

1967 Coronado I, VERY CLEAN and all original. Has some minor checking and minor scratches, but EXCELLENT condition overall. With original hardshell case (tolex has been removed from the outside, but inside is in great condition). It's stamped "SPECIAL" on the back of the headstock, which indicates an instrument that Fender gave personally to someone instead of selling through a dealer.

Will consider trades for '60s or '70s P basses (under 10 lbs.), or will sell outright for $1100.

Odd that the f holes are painted black. I've never seen that on a Coronado. Do you know if that was an aftermarket deal?

Gorgeous bass.

Yeah, the previous owner suggested that might have been part of the "SPECIAL" on this bass, but of course I have no direct evidence of that. (Just to clarify for everyone reading, I assume you mean the inside edge of the F holes - the holes themselves aren't painted.)

Bump for Thursday! Make an offer -

Here's the back of the headstock (look closely and you'll see the "SPECIAL" stamp). Check the birdseye on the headstock too - the back of the neck looks like that also.

And really, does it get any cooler than oval tuners and that F-logo tailpiece?

Original hardshell case. Worn on the outside, but rock solid in terms of functionality.

Thanks - yeah, it's a great neck!

Just want to point out again that I'm open to offers, or trades for a vintage P Bass, +/- cash is fine.

It's short scale (30).

Thanks for all the positive comments, everyone.

Price drop, as edited in the original post: $1100.

Also, realized that I forgot to note there is some very slight scratchiness in the pots once in a while. Just needs a little cleaning, no big deal, but I always try to make sure I'm fully disclosing everything.

Just want to point out again that I'm open to reasonable offers, and that could mean either straight-up cash offers, or offers +/- cash for an older (lightweight) Precision.

...and after days of silence, the offers came rolling in yesterday. It looks like this will be gone soon one way or another, but I'll update the thread to confirm that.
