I got this in trade a couple of years back. When I first got it, I was absolutely in love...the short scale plays practically as fast as a guitar, and the tone perfectly fit the reggae (clean) and stoner rock (Big Muff) that I enjoy playing around with. However, I'm really a fretless player at heart, so this doesn't see nearly the playing time it deserves.
It's (probably) a '68. The pots date '67, the unreliable Gibson serial number claims it's either a '65 (definitely not) or a '68. One funny thing about it is that in 1968, they switched from a one-piece bridge to the modern adjustable style, and moved the pickup cover to become a bridge cover. Mine has the adjustable bridge but has the screws showing it originally came with the pickup cover (now long gone, like most EB's), not a bridge cover. So it was probably early in the "transition" period.
As you can see from the photos, it's no "closet queen". Finish checking, scrapes and bruises, chips here and there. Headstock totally intact, no breaks or cracks anywhere. Everything's original and unmolested. Comes with the original hardshell case that for some reason has two different styles of latches, but neither of them look like replacements to my amateur eye. One of the latches (on the hinge side) is broken but otherwise it's in excellent condition, especially for it's age.
