FS or FT 1978 Fender P-Bass EXC Condition Rare color

Here is a true closet classic 1978 Fender P-Bass, this bass is in REALLY nice condition especially for being 32 years. The neck looks near new and the body is in nice shape too! The neck has a couple of tiny finish blems on the headstock, but you can barely notice them. The body has some tiny pinhead sized dings and a few scuffs here and there, but overall it is very clean. It is finished in a deep trans red over ash. The majority of the scuffs should easily buff out.

It was so clean that I had to take it apart to make sure it was real! On the bottom of the neck heel there are the usual Fender stamps and the stamp of J. Torres. I also took the pickguard off and verified the inside of the route, the ink stamp is very visible under the finish and the neck pocket had the typical Fender stamps as well.

There are 3 downsides to this bass:
1. Non-original pickguard, it has a black metal guard
2. Non-original pickup
3. Comes with a gig bag, I may be able to round up a case for shipping.

Now the pros of 1 & 2, the pickguard and pickup are Vintage Schecter USA Custom Shop with the original Schecter logo. These pickups have some serious kick to them and the volume control is push/pull giving it a good range of tones.

With all of this said, the bass is great but as I mentioned in some of my other listings; I was in a car accident 2 months ago and now have 3 herniated discs in my neck. I cannot play as much as I would like nor can I handle a bass that weighs over 9 lbs. This bass is probably 10 to 11 lbs, I don't have a scale.

I would rather trade this bass but I will sell it, with that said I am asking $1,100 + shipping (trade value $1250) if the right deal comes along I will throw in some cash.

Please keep in mind colors and weight, I do not like natural finish or 3-tone bursts and I need to keep the weight under 9.5 lbs. I would prefer under 8.5 lbs

Possible trade bait:
1. EBMM Stingray Classic (any color except white and what was mentioned above.
2. EBMM Bongo 4 stringer HH or HS
3. Peavey Cirrus Rudy Sarzo
4. Robin Bass USA and 4 string only
5. Lull P or J 4 string
6. Lakland BG, JO, JS or DJ

If you have something else, drop me a line...

I have this bass up on evilbay for sale, my goal right now is to get some medical bills paid and get some cash to buy an EBMM Stingray Classic. I will be listing some other basses too.

It is 1 5/8" at the nut but the profile designation has been so misunderstood...either way the neck to me is not chuncky and I prefer Jazz necks over anything.

If the bass was a tad lighter I would not even have this up for sale. Out of all of my P Basses this one probably has the best sound. I would compare the '78 to the sound of my Mike Lull P-5 as far as tone is concerned.
