SOLD
My divesting continues, I finally found my sound and I need to move some of my collection. This is one of my favorite Stingrays but I have decided to sell since it is worth the most.
Here she is, this is hard to do.
1979 Musicman Stingray 4 Serial #: B013208
Ash Body
Maple neck and finger board
Weight: Does it really matter (about 9 lbs)
Original MM Pickup
Original tuners, none are bent
Original bridge with Mutes in great shape
Super tight neck pocket, Some finish chips near pocket.
Neck is straight, truss rod works great. No dead spots.
Original neck plate
Original Frets, almost no wear
Original Finish, has some age cracking but is in great cosmetic shape for a 79. The back has some buckle rash, shown in pictures.
2 pre-amps
1. Stock 2 band Musicman, it is a replacement, the original died a few months ago.
2. John East MMSR Musicman voiced (running 9 volt)
Volume
Stacked bass (+14/-7dB @ 40 Hz) and treble (+20dB / - 16 dB @ 10K) and PP for Bright (+5dB @ 7K)
Mid with Freq sweep stack (+/- 12dB from 100 to 1000 or 200 to 2000Hz)
The East adds a whole new world of versatility to a Stingray but with the mids flat it sounds just like the factory preamp. The pots that came with the East are the best I have ever used and the build quality is superb. It is truly amazing.
This bass absolutely rips, it exemplifies what a Stingray should be. This soooo much better that the newer stingrays I have owned. It is awe inspiring.
This includes a new style Musicman Hardshell case.
