FS/FT: 1980 Fender Precision Special Matching HS

Up for sale or trade is kind of rare (even though there is a red one for sale right now in the classifieds) 1980 Fender Precision Special. I bought this for the neck but I just can't bring myself to break this bass apart. It is a killer P bass and I know the end of the CBS era wasn't supposed to be great but this is a truly great sounding and playing bass.

Bass has low setup and the neck is like butter. Has all original parts except missing the thumbrest and the original case. Though it will ship in a fair condition older hard shell case. The bass pot on the preamp was a little wonky it was repaired and works fine now. It has xpected wear for a 32 year old instrument and everything was captured in the pictures below. I think??? Neck is in very good shape.


Bass weighs just a hair over 10 lbs (thats the best my crappy scale will tell me) It balances perfectly on lap or strap and looks super cool too.

Trades? These are my qualifications... 34", 4 string, two pickups, <10 lbs. Willing to trade up or down for the right bass.

If I sell I will probably part a p bass neck and Jazz body, buy an new ATK premium or talk to Tom Clement... again.

Fixed the preamp yesterday and wow does it make a difference! I have returned this bass to the original configuration And will be putting up on ebay tonight or tomorrow.
