Here's another killer axe: a first-year, chrome bridge and control panel 1980 G& L-1000 in CAR. Mahogany/ebony. In good shape, decent weight (9.5 lbs), HSC, 1 11/16" at the nut.
This bass has two minor mods.
1) It has some weird little hole on the bass side right near the forearm contour. I have NO IDEA what this is about. I made sure to get it in the pic so you can see it.
2) There's a "kill switch" carefully wired into it right next to the jack. Again, no idea why, but that's what it is.
The only other "issue" with this bass is that the finish has a bit of "orange peel" to it. Maybe a Friday in the buffing shop? I dunno. You have to be right up on it to see. The finish is definitely original, just not the stellar job we generally get from G&L.
Bass sounds huge, esp. with the "big hex" pups.
I'm asking $850 shipped.
Please read this first before offering me a trade: No amps or cabs, please. No basses made anywhere other than the US. No pointy axes. No coffee table basses. No Warwicks, no Spectors, no Ibanez -- sorry, fine basses all, but not interested. I'm ONLY interested in US Fenders that are AT LEAST 25 years old, US vintage reissue Fenders, US Laklands, Gibsons, Guilds, and maybe the right US EB/MM axe. I can add cash for the right axe.
