Fantastic sounding and playing P-bass- very lightweight, strong vintage P sound with those american pickups they put into all these japanese imports... Most of these were sunburst, but they did make a few black and white! No serial # that I can see- the neckplate may have been swapped at some point. Some scratching on the back, pickguard is missing a corner, and a paint chip on the top where one's forearm rests, but what do you expect for a 25 year old instrument!
Looking for trades but will go for an outright sale as well for $475 CAN + Shipping. Specifically interested in old big muffs, Glockenklang gear, Tecamp gear, Vintage instruments/amps, but throw me any trade offers you have- you never know!
Obviously willing to add or accept cash depending on trades.
Thanks for looking!

But there's a couple hundred dollars difference in "market value" between those and a JV - that's the only reason I was asking.

The first pics comes off a deep green, which I've seen used on Walmoth bodies. .... When he said 'rare', I thought 'rare' not black. I wouldn't call black rare. ..... Plus, I think $650 is a little high without serials to back it up. He could pull the neck and see what's in the neck pocket or pickup cavity. If it's a Fender they'll be something written in there. ...... |

So yeah there were plenty of black 80s SQs...most of the JVs I've seen have been the 3TSB, but I don't know about the relative numbers of black vs. 3TSB.
Is there a way to get a serial without the original neckplate? Would that be on the heel of the neck on a JV? |

They came in White, Black and Fiesta Red also, in the late production. They all came with the reverse tuners and a strap button an the back of the headstock. They also came with the vintage threaded bridge saddles. These things are big clues to a genuine JV Squier. Sorry to post this in a for sale thread, but the questions were being asked. |

There's a date stamp on the heel of the neck, looks like 11,28,83, but it's tough to read and the Body has the marking 1 B.
Yes, the body is black. Most of these came as 2TS 3TS, so I consider this a rare color.
It has reverse tuners, the appropriate headstock strap button and no skunk stripe.
Here are some more pictures of the headstock and back showing the scratching I indicated.

I have an 82 JV-Jazz (JV16279), bought it new, 62-style with rosewood board and no skunk. It also has the large Squire small Fender on the headstock. .......
I'm guessing this Squire P-bass, that's for sale here, has been parted out with a different body with a 83 neck. ..... Which would make the neck JV at least, but not the body. Cause JV bodies came with the serial number on the neck plate. After about 85 or so the serial numbers were on the headstock decal. |
