Selling my mockingbird. Awesome bass i just dont play it enough to warrant keeping it. Its a 1981 american made mockingbird. Has the original badass bridge, grover tuners, and dual P pickups. Somewhere way before i got it somebody reconfigured the pickups for passive instead of active, and removed all the switches and chicken head knob that came standard on these guys. Inside the cavity, the 3 pots are most likely replacement pots, however the toggle switch is original, as our the dimarzio Ps. The black pickguard was added and all the electronics are routed through the pickguard. Recently i was going to remove the pickguard and make a new nice one out of some cool wood but i dont have the time.
Bass is in pretty good shape for being 30 years old, some scuffs here and there, only rough spot of the body is where the original strap button was, the button snapped off so the original metal rod is still in the wood and it looks like someone chipped away at the wood to get it out. if youre wood saavy you can probably get it out, and has no impact on the playability. Theres one knob that had the silver inner buttom fall out, i ordered a replacement knob from Neal Moser that should be to my house this week, and that will be on the bass as soon as i get it, and ill include the original knob as well And if youre reading this, you know these guys have neck dive and are heavy, but to look this cool who cares! haha
Here are some pics, if you'd like anymore pictures please let me know, or if you have any other questions please PM me. These things go for over 2k in good shape, im looking for $900 shipped obo. if youre within a few hundred miles of DC in any direction im willing to meet halfway as well. thanks!
as far as trades, im interested in cool weird older basses from the 70s/80s: Electra Outlaw, Washburn B-20, Guild 301/302, Any Kramer.
