1981 Electra Phoenix 630S (stained) P-Bass

Spec's I harvested from the web:
Maple "C" type bolt on neck & Fingerboard
Ash body with Stained finish
Black pickguard
Neck plate with the Electra inverted "Peace" style logo
1.5" @ nut
20 Fret~ 34" Scale

Currently strung with excellent condition GHS Bright Flats.

Electra guitars were imported from Japan by St. Louis Music from 1971-1984. Most of the instruments were made by Matsumoku in Matsumoto Japan.

I picked this up recently wanting a unique P-bass. And it's all that. Then today I fell into a deal on a unique P-bass body and that once paired with a neck will take the place of this Electra.

When it came to me it was kind of dirty and had a bit of crackling wiring. I cleaned it up and touched up all the solders and such. It's solid again now. Also adjusted the truss rod (it works) and lowered the nut a bit because it was pretty high.

Very nice vintage finish neck. Nice earthy stained body with rough grain that you can see and feel (it does have a couple small runs in the stain that you can see close up... I'll try to show in photo's.)

I'll take clear photo's tonight of it and get them posted up.

$175 Shipped and insured

Trade: Would trade for a Aguilar TLC, or MXR M87 Compressor.

Surprised someone hasn't grabbed this. May have to proceed with thoughts of refinishing the body.

Love Matsumoku made stuff.

Be patient on the sale. I've had basses go close to 3 months before selling. It often takes a bit longer for instruments that are a little different to sell.

Ya, it's fine and unique as it is. Fantastic traditional sounding P-bass, and great playing now that the nut has been lowered, which is how I prefer.

I have another project that will help to keep my hands off the Electra. :-)

Very interesting bass. How's the action?

Edit: the neck finish is the proto-SX nuclear orange!

The action is what I consider minimal effort to play now that I lowered the nut. I tweaked a couple nut slots just a touch, but mainly I slowly took off the bottom of the entire brass nut to get the nut height down where I like. I like my nut height to be very low for ease of playing... lower than your standard Fender type stock nut. When possible. If someone needed the nut higher for their taste it would be very easy to add a thin shim under the brass nut to raise it up a bit to their preference.

Frets are in good shape for a 30 year old bass.

It's in between. Not Jazz, not P. Feels very comfortable.

This body also has a squarer Tele style neck route. I think a Telebass neck would fit better than a typical rounded back Jazz or P-bass neck.
