I picked this up off of Craigslist this week on an impulse buy. The owner bought it in 1981 and it's been in a closet since the early 80's. the bass weighs in approx 8-8.5 lbs on the bathroom scale and is a lot of fun to play. I've cleaned it and set it up with a new set of strings. There are some pretty impressive features on this Washburn bass, including:
Neck through construction
String through body design
Hefty brass bridge
Brass nut
Quality tuners
DiMarzio pickups? (Sounds like my Kramer which has them but I've since been told that they are NOT)
Vintage style smaller fretwire (like a 60's jass)
Black binding on freboard
Well balanced due to long upper horn and surprisingly comfortable to wear
Another thing that I found interesting, is that underneath the backplate, there is another metal cover installed over the pots - shielding perhaps??
There is a ding on the bottom horn, otherwise, this bass is literally a "closet classic"
I'm selling because it's so similar to a bass I already have (Kramer DMZ 5000) and I could use some diversity or the $.
I'll link more photos in a few min.
Asking
$600 $550 $500 shipped In a quality used Levy's gig bag (or OHSC that smells of smoker's home).
As for trades, I'd love a fretless that's similar to this. Otherwise, Kramer lumies, a Markbass head, etc. see my profile for an idea as to what I play.
Thanks.
