1982 custom made Alembic distillate.
This bass is immaculate. !!Not a single ding!!!
Disclaimer: a couple of very light scratches to the chrome electronics/ battery compartment covers on the back.
not in the finish.
Model: DMSB4 Distillate Bass
Custom LED's Run the length of the neck
Chrome Hardware
Side mounted jack for the cable
Exhibition grade curly maple top, back, headstock cap, and headstock rear.
Neck: maple and purpleheart
Fingerboard: ebony with mother of pearl ovals
Scale 32" medium
Width at the nut: 1 & 3/4"
Weight: approximately 10 lbs.
The history as I understand it, according to the Alembic site:
the bass was custom ordered
and completed for a collector in 1982.
It was kept in a case, stored, and brought out to be played once or twice a year until 2009.
It was upgraded with new rf shielding, pots, knobs, and led wire, and then sold.
It changed hands a few times with minimal playing until it came to me.
Upon receiving the bass, I had the frets professionally dressed and a full once over including fretboard treatment (oil) and setup.
It plays like a dream. It is absolutely killer.
here's a couple links to the history on the Alembic site with pics:
Alembic Club: Alembic Distillate Custom - Chrome, Led's, Maple Laminate -front&back, Excellent Condition
Alembic Club: 1982 quilted maple Distillate - very nice [SOLD]
My wife is going back to get her second masters, we will be moving to new york city or san francisco so I am liquidating some basses and some very nice top quality studio gear to help out (High quality pre amps and compressors (Empirical Labs, Urei))
I am asking 2,700.00/obo/ paypal for this bass, shipped/ insured to your door in the original hard shell case
In the lower 48 USA.
Will consider shipping elsewhere but buyer will pay shipping and all fees.
NO LONGER LOOKING FOR TRADES- if sold, money must go toward tuition.
I will try to get some better pics in the daylight, these were taken before having the fretboard treated and fretwork done:

This is for sale locally, btw.
If you were to pick up (Washington dc area)
the price would be less packing/ shipping/ insurance
($100).

The distillate electronics are as follows:
Bass cut/flat/boost switch
Treble cut/flat/boost switch
Switch for q filter or low pass filter
Volume pot
Q or lowpass frequency pot
The other switch and led light are for powering on/ off the LEDs.
The 4position switch n the lower horn is standby, bass pickup, both, and treble pickup.

i will be available to contact on line but unable to ship the bass within that time period.
(the bass will be safely cased at home, not brought on tour)
