Hi-
This 1983 Fullerton-era Fender Precision Bass is truly exceptional. I usually hesitate to call anything “mint condition”, but in this case, I must say this bass looks like it has just come from the Fullerton factory. I can’t find a single scratch, swirl, scuff, ding, dent, or mark on it. There are very, very minor imperfections that I believe to be just factory-made imperfections. It truly looks like it has never been played. In fact, it was owned by a guitar player, and went pretty much unplayed until I bought it just recently.
This bass is a lightweight
8 lb -8 oz. I measured it on a digital postal scale, so it is accurate.
The build quality is very good. The Fullerton-era (1981-1984) basses appear to be the next appreciating Fender collector basses. All indications are that this bass will appreciate in value at a good rate in the coming years. If you want a really good example of the period, you can do no better than this bass.
As you can see below, I don’t have a shortage of vintage maple-neck P-basses. I prefer the look of the 70’s basses (and the black pickguards), so I am going to keep the ‘75 and ‘77. The one for sale is in front, with the white pick guard and pickups (obvious early-eighties design cues).
The bass sounds great. There are no issues with it that I can find. I’m not sure what strings are on it, but it will go from Reggae/dub sounds through brighter P-bass sounds with a roll of the tone pot. The bass comes with the original case, which is in very good condition, but not perfect like the bass. How do you think the bass stayed so nice for 26 years?
Please check out my feedback if you are interested. PM or post any questions. If you dig the photos, or vintage P-basses in general, bumps are appreciated.
I prefer PayPal, but will also accept a personal check or money order if that works better for you. I’m asking SOLD PENDING PAYMENT
$1350 for this bass including shipping in the continental U.S. That is approximately the price of a 2009 Precision, which I believe is of similar quality, but likely will not appreciate at nearly the same rate.
I will consider
trades up or down or offers. I am in particular need of a mid- or high-end 5 string bass at this time. Neck-through basses preferred.
