FS/FT: 2006 F Bass BNF5 Lined Fretless
BASS IS TRADED! 2006 F Bass BNF5 lined fretless 5-string-PRICE LOWERED! Picked this bass up here on TB in April 2013. Great bass but not getting any play time with my other fretless basses-hasn't left my smokeless studio since I picked it up. The bass is still in near mint condition with only a very slight nick on the upper part of the back of the bass and minimal fingerboard wear; it plays perfectly with balanced low action, and sounds amazing with great growl up and down the fingerboard. Includes a mint condition older F bass heavy duty gig bag. Weight is approximately 9 lbs

$2650 Price lowered to $2550 obo shipped and insured CONUS. PayPal preferred. Just looking to break even here. Possible trades would be Bergantino CN212 or NV115 plus cash. I might also consider a high-end 6 string fretless for trade. Please send pm with any questions, offers, or for additional pictures-thanks for looking!

Are the pick ups in the same position as a fretted BN5? Thanks

I believe they are (I had the same question myself and eyed balled this bass to other BN5s.) Of course, the fingerboard is longer on the BNF5 (28 positions I believe), so the spacing between the bridge pickup and end of the fingerboard is very different between the two models.

Yeah, between that & the body shape the pick up positioning looks different. With both pick ups on full, how close to a jazz bass does it sound?

I'd say that with both pickups on full it comes very close to a jazz bass fretless tone: articulate, warm, focused, with tight low frequencies. I usually slightly favor the bridge pickup to come even closer to a jazz bass fretless tone.

I figured it would get the "Jaco-ish" tone with no problem. I am looking for something that can also basically hide from being a fretless & just sound like a jazz with both pickups on. I'm also trying to avoid the PJ-ish pickup placement as I already have a fretless like that.

I'd say this bass can definitely pull off both a marvelous fretless tone and more solid and chunky fretted bass tone, depending on one's technique-best of both worlds.
Some decent trade offers coming in but nothing solid just yet-bass is still available at a lower price-$2550 shipped insured CONUS!
Hope I could find the same bass in my local market !;)
I am located in France...
