I am re-listing my 6 String Fret-less Stambaugh (Exotic) SC for a cheaper price. The bass is in like-new condition - 9.8 out of 10.0! The bass plays and sounds incredible. In the hands of a true fret-less player this bass would be dangerous. My intonation on a fret-less when playing with my band needs some work (The onus falls completely on me - not the bass) , and I don't have much need for a fret-less in my classic rock band. Since this beautiful bass isn't getting the playing time and love that it deserves I regretfully have decided to sell it to help catch up on some bills. New this bass would cost $3600.
In my previous sale thread I was asking $2300.00 with a brand new SKB hard shell case plus a nice wide padded leather strap with new strap locks. The case seems like it was made for this bass and fits it like a glove.
** I am now asking $2150.00 with the new SKB hard shell case and leather strap with strap locks shipped CONUS and insured. **
OR
** $2050.00 in a beat up padded Warwick Rock bag shipped CONUS and insured. **
Payment methods = Paypal or Bank Check
The only trades I would be interested in would be for a 4 or 5 string Pedulla Thunderbass or a 4 or 5 string Pedulla MVP. I may also consider a 5 string (Fretted) Roscoe.
If I did trade the Stambaugh I would use my original asking price of $2300 (what I feel this bass is actually worth!) and not my cash sale price for the value of the Stammie to compare to the value of the trade bass. Specs:
Stambaugh SC (Exotic) Fret-less 6 String
******************************* Top = Spalted / Flamed Maple Body = Black Limba Neck = Bubinga and Wenge Fret Board = Indonesian Ebony / Lined Fret-less with dot markers on top Pup Covers = Indonesian Ebony Pups = Aero (coil splittable) Pre-Amp = Bartolini with mid / freq select boost Bridge = Hipshot - (I think??) Tuners = Hipshot Volume Knob = Dual Pot to switch from active to passive Strap-locks = Recessed Dunlop Spacing = 18mm adjustable at the bridge Scale = 33 1/2" Weight = 10 lbs - Balances very well - Very comfortable
Very tight B and E - Can string through body
Chris Stambaugh told me in an E-Mail that the bass has a special Urethane finish that adds extra protection.
Here are some photos - What a beauty!!

A photo of the Stambaugh next to my Pedulla Thunderbass just to give you an idea of the size of the body and neck of the Stammie compared to a 4 string.

Again, this bass at this price is and incredible deal and you wont find one nicer.

Again, this bass at this price is and incredible deal and you wont find one nicer. | Hey thanks guys - I appreciate it!! I do know for sure that one reason a former owner (the guy in the video clip) sold it was to pay the taxman - He didn't want to sell it.
The reason that I am selling the Stambaugh has nothing to do with the bass (or it's dot markers) - It is truly an incredible instrument. I just need to get caught up on a couple bills As far as the dots go - I personally wouldn't want them in the middle on a fret-less - That would totally mess with my intonation and make it harder for me to play. Just treat the dots like frets and play slightly behind them and your spot on.
I've been wanting to try a Stambaugh for a while now and it didn't disappoint - I'm just hurting for cash right now and sometimes you have to part with things that you really don't want to. I'll miss it severely when it sells and plan on getting another Stammie down the road when my financial situation improves. I agree with austentaciousC - This bass is the best playing bass that I have owned , and I have owned a 6 string (fretted) Skjold (Very comparable). I also had a 6 string Fret-less Carvin custom made several years ago and the Stammie absolutely blows it out of the water in all categories (Looks , craftsmanship , sound/tone , and playability).
I just had another great trade offer that I reluctantly had to pass on because I'm really trying to re-coupe some cash.

I've owned several ERB's and this one is definitely the easiest playing of the lot! It does require a bit more concentration at first, getting used to it being fretless AND a 6 string, but it's well worth it! I bought this bass right before I had open heart surgery and as soon as I was recovered enough to play, this bass and my Ritter got pretty much equal stage time.
The build quality is easily the equal to my Ritter classic, and the tone from this bass is perfect, IMHO. Dark, woody, very present in the mix,.....and ya gotta admit,...this girl is a STUNNER!!! Wish I had the funds to buy her back,....would do it in a heartbeat! Good luck on the sale and congrats to whoever is lucky enough to be the new owner!

I can absolutely guarantee that this bass won't disappoint! I personally feel that it would be extremely difficult to find a better bass in this price range.
Quite a few interesting trade offers PM'd to me , and one international cash offer. I turned down the trade offers because I really need to make a cash deal. Also - Why trade a bass that I love for one that I may not like?
I would also really prefer to keep this bass CONUS if at all possible - Unless the international TB'er meets my demands on how the purchase will go down and pays for all of the shipping and insurance.
I really need to move this bass to catch up on some bills , so regretfully I had my wife put it on the auction site that she uses (I won't name names). I didn't want to , but so far all that I'm getting here on TB are trade offers and an international cash offer from S. Korea. Not to sound prejudiced against international TB'ers , because in all honesty the guy from S. Korea seems on the up-and-up and sounds like a nice guy. I just don't like the hassle and price of shipping internationally.

Why a small asian guy like me love an American made 6 string bass?

This bass sold for $2200.00 a couple months back - in a soft case.
I am selling it in a brand new SKB Hard Shell Case with a nice wide padded leather strap with new straplocks for a substancially lower price , and all I have gotten so far are trade offers and one international offer - CONUS only.
I just can't figure out why I have to change my name to Ben Dover everytime I try to sell things here on TalkBass?!? Especially when this bass is an incredible instrument and plays like a dream. I have nothing but positive feedback , and previous buyers and sellers post positive comments in my sale thread.
** I am now asking $1850.00 with the new SKB hard shell case and leather strap with strap locks shipped CONUS and insured. **
OR
** $1750.00 in a beat up padded Warwick Rock bag shipped CONUS and insured. **
Payment methods = Paypal or Bank Check
