FS/FT Alembic Distilate w case-Black

Ok- this is a tough one for me- I LIKE this bass alot- but can't get used to 32 scale- and filter base preamps are not for me just can't hang...but there is something about it..its fun to play-kind of can't put it donw so I may come to my senses!

Bass has some shall we say issues... first orginal preamp has been replaced by ACG preamp- not quite sure what does what- I didn't do it- but it seems to be stacked bass treble filers (go mwah from lows to hits) volume and a passive tone control- I think- its wired 18 volts- kind of reminds me of my Wal in terms of sound- as a result of this change- there are two empty spaces for switches- (I assume orgginally the Q switches?) orginal Alembic pickups.

I think- at one point the bass had a repair on the neck- there is just one line on the back of the headstock- it might not be- or it may be- if it is its REALLY well done- and there is no evidence on the front side neck is staright plays good, low action good frets, trusses work..all good

Bass was missing control cavity cover- I cut a new one out of pickguard material- its not perfect but covers the guts well enough- the gap seen in the picture is a result of that not any issue with the bass itself.

So...based on that...hard to dertermine a value- bottom line a good playing black Alembic- that isn't quite kosher...

I'm asking a very negotiable $1000+ shipping... Trade wise..70's beater P bass or jazz- refins routes etc ok... a stingray is a possiblity, ...I don't really have cash to have to a deal - I do have a Hamer USA PJ cruise I could add as a 2 for 1 deal if it was something I wanted...feel free to run any offers by me...

If someone wants to get into Alembics this is a GREAT deal. I payed close to $4000 for one of these back in the 80's.

Where did you get this bass and when? Do you have any history on it?

no history on it...got it in a trade...good player..its a great playing bass..and wouldn't be sad to keep it- I just doubt I'd use it as I'm more of a PJ or JJ cat..though a nice stingray could tempt me

that line across the neck, I do not believe is a crack, I think that is just the finish over top the scarf joint where the headstock attaches to the neck. pretty typical finish anomaly. Nice bass, great foundation for a killer project. wish I could swing it.

Just butting in here but my 32" spoiler has a lot of sustain and i find it as good or better than any other bass i own. Mine is not fretless so
no dead spots that i can find either.
