FS/FT Alembic Epic & Rikkers Bodyline

Okay guys, I have two nice basses on the block for the new year - sale or trade!

(1) 1997 Alembic Epic $1100 shipped CONUS SOLD
Dual 2-way truss rods, brass nut, brass bridge and tail stop, ebony fingerboard, 3 piece quartersawn maple neck, book matched walnut top (there is a little separation between the two tops, see pics) with matching headstock veneer, maple accent veneer between top and mahogany body. The Alembic electronics are active bass, treble, volume and pickup blend. The bass is in good condition, no bad dings or bumps to mention other than the hardware is a bit tarnished and shows pitting and she needs new strings real bad. There is also a slight hint of the previous owners smoking habit.

I believe this was made in Santa Rosa CA. I love the way this thing looks and sounds and I really like the fret board, however the thickness of the maple neck is not getting along with me. I tend to prefer the skinnier Warwick wenge or bubinga necks or a jazz profile.

This will ship via UPS Ground, fully insured in a gig bag.

(2) 1986 Rikkers Bodyline-bass $1400 shipped CONUS
Handmade in the Netherlands, truly a rare find!
This is a very cool looking, easy playing and big sounding bass. I find the feel to be similar to a neck through Pedulla I had. Some aspects are similar to a Ken Smith in my opinion and the sound out of this thing is huge, much more powerful than my Thumb 9v and equal to my 18v Bartolini in my Corvette. It is active/passive with EMG pups and would be an amazing addition to someone's arsenal that will play her regularly. Currently she just looks pretty in my office and is tuned standard so she doesn't get much love. She is in great condition, especially being more and a quarter century old and will knock your socks off!

FS/FT Amazing and Rare Rikkers 4 String

Link to the store in Europe that sold this bass to Adam (TBer I bought it from) in the US:

* scroll about halfway down the page.

This will ship via UPS Ground, fully insured in a Warwick RockBass gig bag.

Trades:
4 string, 34' scale, fretted basses only please.
Plus or minus cash is okay.
I am mainly interested in Warwick, Pedulla, Zon, Dingwall or Roscoe.

Would consider others, just throw it my way. I am not a fan of P necks and prefer darker fret boards and necks to maple.

Happy to email High Res photos if needed.

Cheers!

I got the Alembic today and I LOVE it. It has Geddy's 1985-'86 "WAL tone" . Yes, it also has the unmistakable clarity of an Alembic.

I've owned just about every Alembic there is and I'm right back to my first (and last) choice. I just never understood the limited (to me) tonal option of the low pass filter. I always loved the Epic controls of vol/blend/bass/treble. I'd want it on the high end ones, too. Maybe I just din't know how to get the most out of a low pass filter.

Either way, I love this bass and it's exactly what I was looking for.

Bump for Rob and he is awesome.

Bump for his "Rikker's Island" bass. I bet it is SICK. I can only imagine how good the neck feels. I bet it's like my Cirrus

I love it, Rob !!! I've owned all the Alembics (except for a series I and II) and this one is the best, for me. It feels like home, and I love the tone from the wood combo.

I am using this weekend at our 4 hr long gig !! I can't wait !!!

Had a few trade offers on the Rikkers, still waiting for the right one. Also entertaining cash offers (just dropped $400 into my 1987 Thumb nt with all new bart pups and preamp) and could use some bread.

Played her last night and realized what an amazing instrument it is. It might give my Warwicks a run for their money! Closing the thread.
