FS/FT: Alembic/Modulus BassStar Jazz Bass w/ Bartolinis

This is a really nice bass, it plays and sounds great. It is a BassStar bass, I have two of these basses and what struck me as odd on this one is it has the Alembic logo on the headstock, look at the pics for details.

I belive the body to be Walnut (after further inspection it may be mahogany with walnut and maple stringers) and the neck is composite. The passive Barts sound great, the hardware is Schaller and the neck is similar to a P-Bass profile. This is a killer bass all the way around and weighs in at less than 10lbs.

I am looking to trade for a more traditional Jazz or maybe an EBMM Bongo 4 string, but I will entertain other bass trades.

PLEASE DO NOT OFFER LOW-END BASSES FOR TRADE, WHAT I AM OFFERING IS A GOOD QUALITY BASS AND I AM LOOKING FOR SOMETHING COMPARABLE.

I would consider selling it outright as well, if you do not have any good trade bait. $775 shipped

Could you share some more info about the bass, I've never seen one of these before!
When were these produced? I'm not too familiar with the 'BassStar' brand either,
aren't these early Modulus necks before they were producing their own line of instruments (Q5's, etc.)?

How's the action on the neck? Have you thought of a price yet?

Beautiful bass! Can you tell us what the controls and switches do? I'm guessing it's probably a Jazz-type passive VVT setup, but it would be good to know for sure. Also, is the neck J-width (1-1/2") or P-width (1-3/4"), or somewhere in between?

I'm sure there's not -- Modulus didn't start using truss rods in their necks until just a few years ago, and this bass is from the 80's (IIRC).

The controls are two volumes and a tone, there are two toggle switches one is a 3 way pickup selector and the other is a 2 way for in/out of phase.

The neck is 1.625" at the nut, the neck is flat with no relief and the action is super low with no buzzing anywhere on the neck.

I was seriously thinking about keeping this bass, but I really need to sell some basses that never get played. It is not fair to hog them up! I think they need to go to new homes and be played (plus, I really need clear some out and make some more room in my house).
