Looking to get rid of some redundancies in my arsenal, and it looks like this beautiful Jazz is one of them.
I bought it about a month or so ago from someone who claimed that he never gigged it, and it shows. When I got it, the plastic was still on the pickguard, and the neck had the unmistakable mild bow of a bass that had not been played in a while (easily fixed by a quarter turn of the truss rod).
The bass itself is quite beautiful. For some reason, Fender no longer offers LBP as an optional color for the AVRI Jazz basses, and looking at mine, I have no idea why they did that. The finish looks deep enough to swim in, and is free of nicks, dents, dings, buckle rash, scratches, scrapes, and other damage. It has a very dark slab rosewood fretboard with 20 frets, each one in great condition. The neck is a one piece maple neck (obviously) with a very nice nitro finish. Plus, it has stacked knobs. Who doesn't love those?
It sounds great too. While it isn't as bright as my Ash/Maple Lakland, it nails the JPJ sound with ease, and can deliver all sorts of other classic Jazz bass tones. It is currently strung and set up with a set of LaBella SS strings and they really make it sing.
The only reason why I am getting rid of this is because, while it is an amazing bass, my Lakland Skyline JO-44 is closer to the Jazz sound I have in my head, and, living in Manhattan, I have no physical room for redundancy.
It will ship out in a mildly beat up tweed case, and comes with the ashtrays. For an additional $30, I will include a gold Badass II bridge with no saddle screws.
Pics (sorry about the cell phone pics, I can't find my superzoom atm):
$1200 shipped, $1100 local.
I am mostly looking to sell this, but if you want to trade, shoot me a PM. Worst I can say is no. Preferential treatment will be given to:
'57 AVRI P Bass (preferably one with a chunky neck and a hot pup)
Warwick Thumb Fretless
Lakland Skyline Hollowbody (preferably with Chi-Sonics and/or MIK)
