Love the thing (won't be crushed if it doesn't sell), but ready to try something different. Really is a great bass and they don't come up used often. I've actually never seen this model (with 2 pickups, active EQ & piezo bridge) show up anywhere. I believe I'm the 3rd owner of this bass.
It was co-designed by Ned Steinberger & John Bolin. I believe they were made up in Idaho, but as far as I can tell they're out of production. It's a comfortable bass & really sits well on a strap (dig the strap hook!). I think it's actually lighter than my 4 string Fender Jazz. Details:
2 custom EMG NS pickups (dual coils, active)
18v EMG pre (volume, blend, bass, treble, mid & mid-sweep)
Fishman piezo bridge (with volume & tone)
Alder body w/ flame maple top & matching headstock
Rock Maple neck
Ebony fretboard
dual-action trussrod
35" scale
17mm spacing at the bridge
7.5 lbs
hardshell case included Condition: 7.5 of 10
Body & finish are great. Some dings & minor finish flaws on the back edge near the bridge & strap peg. Body needs to be buffed and will be done before it is shipped. The hex nut for the truss rod is a bit stripped. Someone before me was obviously not experienced adjusting guitar necks (probably didn't have an original hex wrench). Not beyond the point where it's unusuable, but in the interest of full-disclosure... I actually haven't touched the truss rod since I first had it setup. Action is set very low and comfortable.
Doesn't come with any accessories as that's how I received it over a year ago. Just bass and case. This is the fullest featured model that was produced by Bolin. $1000 OBO shipped

$1200 is a steal for what you're getting. The Bolin NS basses are absolutely killer instruments with a ton of versatility. Hands down the most comfortable bass I've ever worn, I wish I could have that strap hook on everything.
Good luck with this! |

On the official website, click the guitar pick in the bottom left hand corner and it will bring up the player.

If it had 2 I would still have it, single pick up instruments are just not for me. The Piezo pick up is THE ONE. It sits really well with acoustic instruments in a way that (for me) magnetic pick ups just don't manage. It is has a big open voice that is different and very pleasing. If this was in the UK my weakness would overcome me, but shipping and taxes take me out of the equation. If you are considering this bass then get stuck in. You will not regret it. It is also lighter than a light thing. |

I emailed Jay at Blueberry Hill Bass about sizes on them and he told me that Nordstrand is now making their modern-style pickups with EMG 35 and 40 shells in addition to the normal sizes they've been using. The pickups in this bass use EMG 40 shells so you can get any of the Nordstrand Big Split/Fat Stack pickups as a drop-in replacement, probably without even involving any lead time.
The pickups in this bass are essentially a high end P pickup in a soapbar shell. The sound of the single pickup fretless I had was downright sick, especially combined with the piezo bridge. I would love to hear this one with either the dual EMGs, the bridge EMG swapped for a Nordstrand Big Split, or with Big Splits all around. Any of those combos would be gorgeous. |

If I do end up holding onto the bass, I probably will eventually upgrade the electronics. Never been a big fan of EMGs. |

| | | | It's a beautiful bass, really cool, but stripped truss rod nut = scary!
Probably others think so too, and that is why there is less interest than you hoped? |
