FS/FT: Brubaker Custom 4 w/ Lane Poor, 2tek, etc. (Fuel's bassist's bass)

Sign in to disble this ad
$1000 FOR THE NEXT WEEK ONLY.

This bass was made for Jeff Abercrombie of Fuel. You can see him playing it in several of their music videos, but I think the easiest to see it is Bittersweet around 40 and 50 seconds.

- Wenge Fretboard
- Maple Neck
- Gotoh Tuners w/ drop D tuner
- Lane Poor pickups
- 2-tek Bridge
- Hardshell case (road worn a bit)
- Dunlop straplocks

It's not in mint condition as it was his most used bass for several years while recording and on tour, so there is a decent amount of buckle rash around the neck screws on the back, a few dings in the neck/paint, but as you can tell by the pictures nothing incredibly bad. A fake relic has more crap done to it than this did. Plays great and was loved by several people at the last bassist get together I attended, but I just unfortunately never play it and could actually make use of something else right now.

$1300 shipped. I'd rather keep this and don't NEED to sell it, so please no lowballing. Feel free to send any and all trade offers, just don't be offended if I'm not interested. I can tell you up front NO Fender anything or coffee tables.

Trades:
MTD Z4/Z5
Ric
G&L JB-2
Reverend (4 or 5)
Tobias 5
Brubaker Brute (5 only)
Gecko
Corvette
Kawai
Peavey G
Les Paul Money

This is more accurate to the color:

It really is a nice playing bass with awesome tone. Thanks for the vouch! I had intended to never sell it, but I'm forcing myself to get rid of pieces I never use. Then again, if it a trade I want doesn't pop up, oh well right?

It does look pretty killer and I do love the color. How is the tone as far as low end growl ? Is it a slapper ? Is the action low ? How does it compare feeling wise to a Cirrus ?

So you would trade for my black Kawai FIIB ?

The finish on it is pretty fantastic. I almost like it more than my G&L L2K (don't tell it I said that). The string spacing is a bit wider than something like a Jazz, so slapping should be great on it. As you can tell by the bazillion knobs, you can dial in a wide range of responses from the pickups. I'd recommend looking up reviews of the Lane Poor soapbars to see if you can find something more specific about the tone you're looking for. It's been so long since I've played a Cirrus I can't give you an honest comparison. Sorry I can't offer more detailed info. Man, I'm the worst seller ever.

I'm definitely interested in trading for a Kawai, though I'd need something on top of the trade.

As great as it looks, I'm gonna have to pass this time. The "something on top" added to the trade is the deal breaker for me. I am selling the Kawai because I need the dough and I just don't play it. I'm happy with my Cirrus collection at the moment.

I have read that Lane Poor pups are amazing, and I see that Brubaker's are boutique basses. I'm SURE there are TB'ers just cringing at me for not doing the trade, but I just can't... today.

If I only had more funds...

Having played this, I can vouch that it is indeed awesome.

Bump for a cool seller.

My local trade fell through.

I'll take $1000 for the next week only. My car failed inspection and I've already gotten two tickets from it...
