Up for sale/trade is my custom 5 string by Carruthers Guitars in Venice, California.
It has an alder body with a quilted maple top and a beautiful birdseye maple set neck with a rosewood fingerboard. The electronics are an EMG 40DC for the bridge and an EMG jazz pickup in the neck position. I believe it has an EMG preamp and it is wired for 18v. One unique thing that I really like about this bass is the 34.5" scale length, which, to me at least, feels noticeably better than the 35" basses I've played. I am fairly certain that it has 19mm string spacing. The action is set pretty low at the moment, so the B and E strings are a bit rattley. A good setup should fix this without too much trouble.
The bass has its fair share of cosmetic wear. There are several small dings scattered over the body and some scratches on the back of the bass. None of these can be seen unless under direct light.
It does have two more noticeable cosmetic defects though. The first of these spots are two shallow gouges in the top of the bass next to the bridge pickup where a previous owner rested their thumb. They are both about the size of half a dime and are honestly hard to notice from a few feet away as they seem to blend into the quilt. The second spot is on the inside of the lower horn, and it appears that something (maybe a cymbal?) has been dropped on the bass and gouged out a small chunk of wood about the size of a dime. It cannot be seen from the front of the bass.
Taking into account the cosmetic wear, I would put the price/trade value of this at
$1200 $1050 $1000 + shipping OBO. This really is a great bass and I hate to let it go, but no matter how hard I try I just cannot get used to 5 string basses with 19mm spacing.
As for trade interests I am mainly interested in a Modulus Flea 4 or 5 string, or any other Modulus for that matter (preferably not with single coils.) Feel free to throw anything my way though; the worst I can do is say no.
On to the pictures (Sorry for the quality; the only camera I have access to is my cell phone camera. If anyone is interested in more detailed pictures (of the wear, etc.) I will borrow a camera and get some taken.)

Here's a YouTube clip of me playing it.

Certainly not the best representation of the tone, but it's better than nothing.
Thanks for looking, and feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any questions!
