FS/FT Carvin B5 5 String Bass, Walnut, Birdseye Maple, Beautiful!

Hey all,

For sale or trade here is a Carvin 5 string B5(I think) made from the Carvin kit. I am the second owner, and the bass was assembled and completed by the original owner. This was an older kit made before the SB series came out, so the string spacing is 17.5mm, which is the reason why I'm selling it . Just can't get used to the closer spacing! It plays great, sounds great, just wish it were a tad bit spaced apart. The low B sounds great on this bass.

Specs:

34" scale
Walnut body
Bolt-on Maple neck, birdseye maple fretboard(awesome birdseye by the way)
Carvin J99 pickups
Carvin active 3 band(bass, mid, treble) EQ with a push-pull knob to for active/passive switching. Runs on 9v currently.
Hipshot SF5 bridge, top-load or string-through design.
Was told this was given the stainless-steel frets, but I'm not sure how to tell or clarify. Frets are in great condition.
It's all finished in tung-oil, giving it a very natural look and feel. It seems to have been a very light tung-oil finish, everything still feels very natural.
Weighs around 9 lbs if I remember. Will double check.

Full disclosures: There is a thin crack on the fretboard that runs down from the 8th to 11th fret that scared the out of me. It's very thin, and I only noticed it when I ran my fingers down. In fact its nearly invisible when I look at it, I only see it when I know where to look for it. It seems to be a very small problem, it may have been there when I bought this used, but I hadn't noticed it until a year later. Doesn't affect playing, and hasn't seem to spread anywhere.

Aside from that, there are the usual tiny small wear and dings around the body. The pictures are older, but it hasn't gotten any playtime due to the string spacing.

I will get better pics and shots of all cosmetic damages tomorrow!

I'm looking for similar priced maple fretboard 5 string basses with 18mm+ string spacing. I love a wide 5 string bass neck with a thin front-to-back profile. An ESP-LTD Surveyor 5 in Natural or White is on the top of my list. Throw me any offers you have though!

Cash sale price is currently $450 shipped with a gigbag.

Thanks for looking! PM me with any questions or offers!

The Carvin bass kits don't have any of the Carvin logo/decals.

The 777 was put on by the original owner. Looks to be written-on silver Sharpe.

Yes! Sorry, I had forgotten about this! Here are two shots in which I attempted to capture the hairline crack. It's hard to see, as it's under the G string.

The 777 was written on by sharpe and has since been rubbed off and removed. New price: $400 shipped! $220 for the loaded body.
