If you HAVE to have a pre amp, at this price it would be worth having one installed, the Lollars are very preamp friendly (i had an audere in it at one point)
I got this bass summer of last year and took it on tour, plays and sounds great. If you like that Jazz bass tone, this is it. This bass is has a very "acoustic" quality to it unplugged, and this having been my first bass with Lollars, it has converted me over. The band i play in always needs a 5'er, and my hands hurt playing anything less than a 5. I've discounted a little as i took a small bit out of the pickguard right at the base of the neck to make truss rod adjustments easier (its a daily thing in Alaska). If it bothers you all you need is a new pickguard ($40)
Thanks for looking!
