1989 Rickenbacker 4003 - $1150

I've had this bass for a few years. It sounds incredible, but I just can't get used to the ergonomics of it, and I have never liked the blue/black color combination.

I realized that for the past couple years I've been keeping this bass around because its "worth money" so I've decided to try to turn it into something thats "worth money" that I will also enjoy playing.

Plays great, sounds even better. The previous owner definately treated it worse than I have. It has a fair amount of finish chipping, which the previous owner "repaired" with car touch up paint (the bottle is actually in the case). There is a dime sized area on the headstock that got this treatment, and a couple smaller areas around the body. There is also some finish cracking around the neck/body joint on the back. I'm pretty sure this is just finish damage.

This comes with the original hard shell case.

Darkstar Jazz Bass - $900- SOLD!

Original Sale Thread

According to the previous owner this is a USACG Body, and USACG Neck, nitro finished.

I am actually using this bass, its my current #1. I decided when I got it I was going to give it a fair shake and use it as much as possible. It plays and sounds great, but it is much louder, and much more "full range" than my #1 for the past 6 years or so USA Jazz bass.

The headstock decal was added by me, because the white headstock just looked so plain. For those of you concerned, its not going to fool anyone. It looks great from a couple feet away, but up close is pretty fuzzy. Its just ink-jet sticker paper.

Minor finish swirling over the entire bass, and some chips out of the headstock, and around where the neck attaches, as seen in the photographs.

I just used this to record a demo, so here is a Sound Clip

Fake Rickenbacker - $475 - SOLD!

Original Sale Thread

According to the original thread this is probably made by a company called "Northern" I have no way to authenticate this. But its a pretty cool bass, sounds an awful lot like my real 4003.

This is a bolt on copy, and its 34" scale. I don't know if the truss rod cover is real, or a reproduction.

When I bought this I had high hopes of removing the binding and adding contours, and staining it some cool color, as I have never really enjoyed the ergonomics of playing my real ric. It never materialized, as I have so many basses its never been a priority to use this.

This bass is much louder and lower than my jazz bass, which also makes it a pain to use live.

This bass is in pretty good shape, for a bass that I imagine is at least 15 to 20 years old. Some minor finish swirling, some finish wear on the fretboard, and a fair amount of cracking in the binding on the neck.

-----------------------------

My goal is to turn these 3 basses into 1 vintage jazz bass. Likely a mid to late 70s model is what I can afford. Preferably not natural finish, and almost surely not sunburst, but I'm willing to consider all.

Other things that would tempt me is a USA Jazz Bass or a HHR (only) Jaguar Bass.

What I am after is either a new number 1, or a backup to my USA Jazz. So I am not interested in anything that is not a jazz bass, or jazz flavored. Nothing with more or less strings than 4, and my fretless needs are fulfilled at this time.

So, I bought a 1978 jazz after I sold the darkstar. I'm definitely looking to get cash for the rick and fake rick. I have a project in mind and I will consider a jazz bass body in partial trade for the rick or fake rick.

All prices include shipping, and I am not specifically including a case or gig bag with the jazz or fake ric, but if you really want one we can talk about it. I'd prefer to ship priority mail, because I live right next to the post office, but I can make concessions on that.

Offers will not be ignored, but I think I have a fairly good handle on what these basses are worth, and I'm in no hurry to sell them.

Ideally I will not sell the Darkstar Jazz until I have another bass to use live, so don't be offended if you offer me what I am asking and I am reluctant to bite.

Any information or picture requests, just ask.

Its a "B" width neck, like a modern Precision.
