FS/FT: Douglas WEB 846 Six String Fretless

Sign in to disble this ad
Selling my Douglas WEB 846 6 String Fretless Bass for $200obo that I bought from a fellow talkbassian kencasino (Hi Ken!). I love this bass and have had so many good times with it but I have transitioned to upright bass and never use it anymore. It has active pickups, rosewood fingerboard, custom made jade knobs and pickup cover from Mr kencasino himself, I have a set of D'Addario Brignt roundwound light gauge strings on it, knobs are Blend, Volume, Bass and Treble and the action set nice and low but not TOO low.

I am asking for $300obo local sale (San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles, Southern California) or a trade. I am also selling/trading my Digitech BP50 for $20obo that I purchased from musiciansfriend.com and an Ampeg B100R for $300obo that I bought for $500 from musiciansfriend. Like I said, I have transitioned to playing upright bass exclusively so I would rather these items go to someone who will use them more.

If possible, I would like to trade EVERYTHING for a Nikon or Canon DSLR camera but a local sale for $500 for everything will do just fine so I can buy one

I will now consider shipping within the continental US if the buyer seems cool and if we split the shipping costs 50/50 (I calculated the shipping to a distant place like Maine and it estimated about $30 through fedex).

I have one of these and it really does sound great, believe it or not. I did put a Bart 3-band preamp into mine and it sounds even better.

The string spacing is a little tight, and that's the only thing that bugs me about it. I did order a wider-spaced HipShot A bridge for it, though...waiting for it to come in. The neck is really wide and will accommodate about a 3.25-3.3" (~17mm) spacing. It originally has 3" spacing B to C, which is about 15mm (yikes!)

For anyone looking to try an inexpensive fretless 6, this is a great one to have. The original Preamp is a 2-band Artec, and has jazz-style single coils (under those covers)

Me having small hands have always loved the string spacing on it. Slapping was always ok with me but again, i have small hands. The wider bridge idea sounds like a great addition to an already amazing bass.

Sunday bump!
