FS/FT: Elrick Platinum Singlecut 5 Flame Walnut / Ash / Wenge / Maple

Sign in to disble this ad
I don’t really want to sell this, but of my 3 basses, this one is getting played the least. I have an addition to my family on the way and I need a larger family vehicle. That said, I will consider trades or trades plus cash, but I prefer a straight sale if possible.

I also reserve the right to come to my senses and keep this work of art.

This is an Elrick Classic Singlecut 5-string, built for NAMM 2001.
Specs:

-Through-body construction
-Maple neck (3-piece)
-Wenge fingerboard
-35" scale
-Ash body (super light) with walnut heel block
-Full-face flame walnut top with matching headpiece cap
-Bartolini X-series pickups
-Bartolini 3-band EQ w/mid switch and active passive

This bass is exceptionally lightweight and sounds just fantastic.

The X Series Barts have a Jazz Bass flavor, but more refined and smoother with deeper lows and cleaner highs. This bass is very responsive with great, quick finger style attack and a beautiful, rich voice.

It's also very comfortable and SO LIGHT!

The neck is not a Geddy or a Wishbass, I have medium-large hands and it is really comfortable to play. The bass balances really well and playability is effortless to the 24th fret.

In very good condition with very minor player wear. Minor fretwear if any. She has a couple of very small dings, but nothing really noticeable: a few on the face of the lower bout and one in the belly cut. There is some finish missing from the bridge. There is some wear to the wood on the inside of the trussrod hole, visible in the pics.

Comes with an Elrick deluxe padded gig bag.

She just came back from the shop with a clean bill of health after receiving a new input jack and blend pot, both of which were not 100% functional.

Asking Price: $2300 firm. PayPal fee free payment or Postal Money Orders please. Personal checks for members in good standing (ship after it clears) or cash in person is cool too.

Trade value I put a bit higher at $2600 due to the fact that this bass would be quite pricey to replace. Base price on this model is $5250, book-matched full face top is $500, pre is $50. Retail price today would be $5800.

Trades: Lakland JO5 or 55-02, MTD 535, a Smith 5er, Roscoe 5’er +or- cash, Modulus Q5 Chechen, Markbass F500, GK MB500, Fusion. 112 or 210 cabs. Please feel free to run other trades by me. I may politely decline, but I might not!

Thanks, that's a decent spacing for fat fingers.

Absolutely! My fat fingers have no problem! Plenty of room to slap also, due to the nice amount of space between the neck pickup and 24th fret.

I can't believe this. When this bass was up for sale before I loved and wanted this so bad. I was lookin for a 6 but was willing to lose the extra string caused I just fell in love with it. I was a paycheck away and it got sold. Lol. That's life I guess. Lol. Bump for a great bass, a great builder, and the great owners who have taken care of this beauty. I would love to have this but after it sold I decided to get one made just for me. Great bass though.

Very tempting, but I don't really have a use for a fretless ATM.

3 rough sound clips added to my MySpace page:

Mike Martone - bassist | Free Music, Tour Dates, Photos, Videos

The last 3 clips are the Elrick solo.

Added a few more examples of my awesomely mediocre playing:

Mike Martone - bassist | Free Music, Tour Dates, Photos, Videos

Last 5 clips are the Elrick straight into my Firewire 410 into Audacity. no processing/EQ etc. with the exception of a volume reduction on the last note of the last clip.

I like the cut of that single cut. I feel like a dirty old man, ogling all the hot basses on here. Is it okay if I just whistle at your bass while I walk by? Totally platonic, I promise.

I need some kind of parental filter to keep myself out of this section of the forums. Ey yi.
-Mark

P.S. Congrats on the new addition.

P.P.S. If you have to get a minivan, having flames painted on the side is a reasonable compromise. Make it a surprise! Your wife will understand, I promise.
