I played this a little more at practice last night.

It has a very hi-fi sound, you can get a good stingray tone out of the EMG MM TW, but the crazy thing is the EMG 35P4 neck pickup. Fat and Grindy, with more high end than I've ever heard out of a neck pickup. It has a Jazz like neck, 1.5" at the nut, smooth and fast.

I may end up keeping this just to have one active bass in the stable, but I am mainly a passive guy.

I bought this mainly for the great bargain it was, but it really is an excellent gigging bass. Very balanced, very crisp, and the "modern" sound in no way detracts from the oldies/cover music my band plays. It is easy to wear on the shoulder for three hours as well (and I'm 60). I thought I'd flip it myself at first, but I don't see myself parting with it. BTW, the burst finish looks incredible under stage lights. If I didn't have one already, I'd be all over this and advise anyone else to consider it.
