Hi TB Community
This is a FS or FT Feeler…not completely sure on this one…but wanted to gauge interest…According to the SN#, this is either a 2003-2004 model of the USA made Fender Marcus Miller V Five String Jazz Bass in very good overall condition but not “mint”...considering the amount of gigs this bad boy has seen, it is in great condition!!
I had a buddy of mine drop this bass off with me to sell it on his behalf while he was on tour…but I ended up buying it instead…lol…GAS is a terrible thing…it won’t upset me too much to keep it…but I wanted to see if there was anyone out there wanting to move to a beautiful 5 string like this and trade me there 4 string…I really do like the versatility of the 5 string basses but I enjoy playing a 4 string much more…for what I dig anyway…
Plays great and sounds incredible...the 7.25” radius fretboard is one of the keys to the greatness of this model…it makes for an extremely comfortable five string playability…I will try and get a weight on this unit but I am guessing around the 10lbs mark (I don’t have a scale at the house…but I can borrow one and check it for sure if that is a question concern)
I have now owned two of these basses (one sunburst and this beautiful natural finish) and sold the first one because of issues getting my desired tone…I SOLVED it on this one, I had my tech rewire the preamp to give me a passive tone control…the preamp boosts (Bass and Treble) are now on one dual concentric knob (the one closest to the input jack)…it sounds beautiful…but that mod allowed me to tame the high end on this bass as a 70’s styled pickup placement coupled with the maple board gave it a little too much brightness for my liking…this bass now allows me to dial the tone down in passive and active mode…
The original owner installed a Ken Smith bridge on this bass about a year after he bought it new (so 2005-ish) (I am only the second owner of this bass)…it is a really nice bridge but it does not allow for string through stringing…which matters not to me because I never use that feature on any bass I have owned with that option…
Bass has Schaller Strap locks installed…
The only issues with this bass is that I do NOT have the original case…it is in a studio many miles away and I told the original owner not to worry about it as I would be putting in a gig bag anyway. There is a slight nick on the headstock (exterior blemish not structural or crucial at all – I will include a pic to show that) and the chrome pickup cover is kinda worn/discolored a touch from sweaty hands…
If I was to do an outright sale...I would have to get at least $1275US (PayPal preferred) shipped to the US or Canada…as a matter of disclosure for potential US buyers, the duty taxation/brokerage would also be incurred on the buyers end…I can find out how much that would be exactly but it wouldn’t be much $50-100 maybe…I will be sure to ship it safely and securely OR for an extra $50 I MAY buy a cheaper hardshell case just to ensure it makes it to its destination safe and sound…you will NOT be disappointed…fantastic fiver!!!!!
Feel free to PM me with any questions…thanks!!
