So I recently went on a bass buying spree but I may have bitten off a bit more than I can chew lol.
I'm not totally sure I want to get rid of either of these but I'm throwing it out there to see if there's any interest.
Before we get started I'll list what trades I'd consider for either or both basses. I'd be willing to add cash for the right deal.
4 String Fretted basses only. I like old/vintage/traditional styles. Mainly passive.
Rickenbackers
Older Gibson Thunderbirds
Yamaha BB3000 (made in japan models only)
Alder/Rosewood Jazz basses with 60s pickup spacing (fender, Alleva Coppolo, something like that)
Guild Starfire
Ok...
First up is a 1981 G&L L-1000 natural ash/rosewood fingerboard. I actually bought this here on TB a few weeks ago, Here's a link to the original thread:
FT/FS 1981 G&L L1000 - Wunkay - L1K
Quick and dirty of it: It's all original, totally functional, has had a fret level and a pro repair of a gouge on the front (that little discolored spot). Some finish checking and a few dings and dents as to be expected with a 30 year old instrument, but in overall very good shape.
It sounds freaking huge! This is really just the perfect blend of P-bass and StingRay IMO. The OMG mode is a killer. This bass definitely the most output of any bass I've ever played.
The fretwork is great thanks to the recent leveling. Plays great, nice low action. Wide P-bass Nut width but slim from front to back, kinda like a 60's P-bass neck to me.
Bathroom scale puts this right around 9-9.5lbs Includes non original hardshell case.
Not trying to turn a profit just recoup what I spent.

Next up is a 1973 Fender Jazz, walnut finish over ash/rosewood board with blocks and binding. This one is all original to my knowledge with the exception of the bridge volume pot and knob. Everything else points to 1973, pot codes, 4 bolt neck plate, serial number, body end truss rod adjustment, long g bridge screw, neck heel stamp is worn away but you can kinda make out the 02 which was the code for Jazz bass.
Plenty of wear but definitely adds to the vibe. Truss rod works, the neck is straight, action is pretty low (~4/32" at the 12th fret for reference) with no buzz. There is some fret wear but they still have some life in them and it doesn't hinder playability in my case. I'm not convinced that the tone control works and the tone control knob is cracked. I barely hear any difference whether its full on or full off. Probably needs a new cap. Tight neck pocket, no slop.
Has original maroon/brown thumbrest and screws but no pickup covers. Comes with non original black fender case.
Other than that it is a fine 70's Jazz bass whose value will only go up. This one's right around the 9-9.5lbs mark on my bathroom scale.
Again just looking to recoup what I spent.
