This is a fully-customized/re-furbished precision bass, from head to toe in absolutely excellent condition. I hate to let this one go, and I might not, but I'll see what sort of offers I get if not the direct selling price. This has been traded around several times here on TB, and each person has modified it a bit I believe. It began as a Squire, and was first modified by the user here who runs Arizona/A.B.C. Custom Basses (user 'syco_bass' I believe), and then additionally modified by user 'theschnitt', and then I added one small thing. With as much that has been done, I don't even know if you can really call it a 'Squire' anymore. The only thing left on this bass that is truly 'Squire' is the body, and I think the neck, but the neck was totally re-constructed. Apologies for the slight vagueness, it's had a dense history! Any questions, please ask.
I add 'Feeler' as it's just hard to really price it (see bottom), I received it in a trade so I have no basis really. The only trade I will accept is a significantly higher-quality bass for this bass + cash from my end, don't really want anything of equal value. I'm interested in EBMM and Spector basses for trades.
Here's a specific list of modifications from the previous users who modified it:
Body (Used): 3-piece Alder with glossy-black finish and 50s-style Gold anodized pickguard. Body has a few very minor knicks, nothing worth mentioning. Also has a nice, gold anodized pickguard (metal).
Neck (Refurbished): Fender P-Bass specs with Rosewood fretboard and 1 5/8" TusQ nut. Headstock has been re-shaped and re-finished. Back of neck has been re-finished using Sam Maloof's Oil/Poly-blend. Frets have been leveled, crowned, dressed and polished and the fret board edges have been "rolled" for a nice broken-in feel.
Electronics: All-new USA CTS Pots, vintage cloth wiring, PIO .047 tone cap.
Pickups: Lane Poor P-Bass pickups. I don't know much about them other than they're Lane Poor, a discontinued line of pickups that are high in-demand and sell for very high around here from what I've seen and have been told.
Hardware: All-new, chrome, original Fender MIM parts. Second person who had this added a new Gotoh 201 bridge. Lastly, the only remaining thing labeling this bass a Squire model was the neck plate on the back...so I bought a blank one and replaced it. I can include the original Squire one if you would like.
Strings (not reflected in picture): I just recently put on a set of GHS Bass Boomers. I haven't played the bass too much since, so they're still pretty new.
SELLING PRICE -
$500 $400 OBO including shipping/gig-bag CONUS. The first person who modified this sold for $300 (see very first thread on this bass here:
FS: Refurbished P bass 50's style), and since then, the Lane Poor pickups have been added, a new neckplate, and a new bridge.
