Hi, I have been buying some new basses with my recent return to playing after an 8 year hiatus, and I have learned some things about myself:
I didn't age well during those 8 years.
It seems my body is struggling with these great but normal weight basses. As such, I am after some real super lightweights. I am currently trying to work a deal for a 6.5 pounder that may help my issues.
That said, I have 3 basses hitting the market. Probably. I bought them all here in the last 3-4 months. They all offer something great, and I hate that I can't handle them.
Since I know weight is an issue for some, here are the weights as I remember them:
Brubaker: 9 lbs 3 oz
Modulus: 8 lbs 11 oz
Pedulla: 8 lbs 13 oz
I will confirm the weights when I get the detailed pics up later in the week.
So, I am looking at getting back what I have into them. I would like to sell 2 of 3 of them if my other deal goes through. I reserve the right to not sell if the other deal falls through, or I come to my senses about any of them. I really do like them, I just can't seem to handle the weight. Brubaker KXB-4 Custom. $1750. Hold pending payment. Originally ordered and built for Brad Johnson. This is the most comfortable bass I have ever played. The neck is just a thing of beauty. It is the most tonally amazing instrument I have ever played as well. The range of tones is stunning with the onboard preamp. It sounds even better than it looks.
Includes original hard shell case pictured in original thread. Was setup today (3/25/10), with a fret leveling by Mike Pedulla. This cost me $125, and will not be added to the price. If the bass sells, it is a bonus for the new buyer, if it does not sell, it is even nicer for me to play.

A few additional photos I took myself can be found here: http://www.pumpingstation.com/images/brubaker
The pinball machines in the background are for sale too if anyone wants them. ;-)
1988 Pedulla MVP4, $800. deal pending. Road worn to say the least. Plays great, sounds awesome.
Original thread: FS Pedulla MVP 1988 4
2009 Modulus Genesis VJ Orange Crush. $1600. Traded . This thing is gorgeous. The fretboard figuring is so beautiful it rivals the 5a flamed maple top. Woden neck and freatboard with graphite U channel reinforcement. Incredibly stable neck. Second owner. In the same shape as I purchased it. original thread here: Modulus Genesis VJ 4-String Orange Crush
It was like new when I got it, and it is like new today. Never gigged. Just used for practice at home (I rehearse with my band using Jamlink over the internet). Still includes original hard shell case seen in the old thread. Will be in the pics I take this weekend.
Payment terms and shipping are negotiable. Prices listed don't include shipping, but all payment (cash, money order, paypal) are acceptable. Discounts given for local/cash deals. Trade interest: I am only interested in super lightweight basses (<7 pounds) of similar quality. Open to discussing many bases that fall in that description, but interested in exclusively fretted 4 strings. Different scale lengths are acceptable.

Too bad you aren't looking for any rare tube amps...are you? |

| | | | CFclef: sorry, I am not looking for any rare tube amps right now. I might consider the right superlight head as partial trade, but my iAmp 800 is a pretty sweet sounding amp, and I can't imagine letting it go, even at 20 pounds.
Asomodai: I will do everything in my power to describe this thing accurately and get you some good high res shots. We should both feel good before the money changes hands.
And one final comment: That Modulus really is ridiculous. You can see the figuring on the edge of the fretboard as well as the face. Whenever I look down to make a big position change, I am simply in awe of it. Orange and blue are my favorite bass colors, and it breaks my heart that 9 pounds breaks my back. I'm not ready to give in and play seated live, or none of these would be for sale.

Well, if you change your mind or if curiosity as to what amp I'm referring to gets to ya, please let me know first!! (Psst, the amp is a Fender 400PS, 435 watt, all tube, point to point wired) |

| | | | Wow! 435 watt all tube. That is insane. I'm afraid I'm not looking to get myself one of those, but I would love to get to check something like that out at some point in my life.

Just give me the word, I'll send pics. Or better yet, just let me know and I'll send ya the amp
If not, good luck in finding what you are looking for, and at least this will serve as a bump |

Sometimes a good quality, wide strap can help, sometimes not. The deal on the Brubaker 4 is (once again) a great one, as I mentioned in the other thread if I played fours more often it would still be here. |

| | | Brad, I agree, it is sad to let them go. I did pick this up today: FS: CB (Cliff Bordwell Instruments) 'S' Bass - Almost new!!
6.5 pound feather weight. Beautiful in craftsmanship, appearance and tone.
As for my basses for sale, I am thinking I might keep the last one of the three to sell, which I am hoping is the Brubaker, as that thing is so tonally versatile, and the neck so comfortable, that it is worth keeping for recording and seated playing.
I have gone through $150 in straps looking for a solution. The most extreme being a 5" wide strap with a piece of lamb skin to try to salvage keeping these things, but there is just something wrong with my shoulder that seems to be bothered by these 9 pounders. All three are great though, and I would love to be able to keep them all. I'm too young to be this old!
Of course, if none sell (well, the Pedulla has a waiting list 4 deep already), I can always play them seated, but that means not using them for live gigs, which means I am less likely to play them. Although I played the Brubaker for a 2 hour seated rehearsal tonight. I just love that thing. I thought I'd never find something I liked more than my old pre-gibson Tobias (now gone), but this one did it. I am sure that at some point down the road, I will try to get Kevin to build me a chambered body single cut 4 string that weighs in around 6.5 pounds if he is able and willing. I just love that neck. And more tone on tap than I have ever thought possible.
It will be a sad day when that one leaves me. But whoever gets any of these three will be more than happy, there is not a bad bass in the lot.

Free bump!

| | | | I built in the price increase to leave room to haggle. I figure that way I can get what I had into it.

| | | | All three basses come with OHSC. Brubaker was set up today with fret dressing by Mike Pedulla. This cost me $125, and I'm not adding it to the price. If the bass sells, it is a better deal for the new owner. If it doesn't sell, it is even a nicer bass for me to play.
I'll update original post to reflect these details.
