Just got this sexy beast back from Pat Wilkins after he did an absolutely flawless and stunning job transforming it from a run of the mill natural finish into my caramel dream. It looks outstanding and I swear it plays better now:
http://www.wilkinsguitars.com/ The thing is that I fell in love with a P bass for the month that this baby was with Pat and, to make matters much worse, my expenses have increased substantially this year. I just can't keep this anymore
I believe I am the 3rd owner; the previous one was a local TB'er who babied the bass and professionally replaced the original Sadowsky HC pups with Nordstrand NJ4SV. IMHO there is no contest between the two; the Nordys are out of this world on both ends of the spectrum (from bright to dark). The neck/frets are in excellent shape and of course the body is pristine since it just got the Wilkins treatment. Electronics work flawlessly and the bass currently wears a set of DR Hi Beams. Original Sadowsky case with polish and cloth are included. This bass is way too amazing for what I do and I sincerely feel like it's got to go to someone who will cherish it in a way that I can't.
Extra pics at this link, but please note that the heavy sunlight in my living room kinda distorts the color:

The pics you see posted here at the ad seem to present the color a bit more accurately..
Specs:

http://www.nordstrandpickups.com/bass_trad.html
Weight: 8.75 lbs.
VTC installed
FS: With all the upgrades, I need to get
$2500shipped in order to approach breaking even (the refin alone set me back $400 FYI).
FT: I need to trade down for a solid workhorse and acquire some extra funds for menacing bills. Here are my preferences plus $$ from you (4-strings only):
- A 70's Precision with a maple neck. I am picky about color and weight, so we can take it one offer at a time
- 70's Fender J's//same deal..
- A Sadowsky Metro MV4 (maybe an RV depending on it's finish) or a Hybrid P
- 75 reissue Fender USA jazz with black blocks.
- Recent American standard p's or j's in Olympic white w/maple necks
- US Lakland Glaubs, Osbornes, or DJ's w/maple necks
- Nordy J's
That's all I can think of for now..if you have other ideas I won't be rude..
Thanks!
