FS/FT: Fender Deluxe Jazz Bass 5-string

SOLD LOCALLY

This is a circa 1999 MIM Jazz bass. I bought it new a few years ago. I found it sitting in a vintage guitars shop, dusty behind a stack of $2000+ dollar basses. To my knowledge it had never been played, plastic on the pickguard, etc.

Condition:

Lowdown: The Body is pretty much pristine, with the neck needing some work.

There was a tiny crack in the finish below the neck pocket on the bottom side of the neck, which has been professionally repaired, and I've been assured that it doesn't extend into the body. This happened when the neck was removed to insert a shim when it was being setup at the local luthier. Apparently this type of thing is somewhat common with the thick finishes on the MIM basses.

The reason the neck was shimmed is because there is a little 'ramp' in the neck starting at the 17th fret. I like the action pretty low, so it buzzes above if you play above 15, but I pretty much never do, so it wasn't worth it to me to have the fretboard work done to fix it. I'm not a slapper, so there isn't really any fret wear to speak of.

The screw that's missing (on battery cover) could easily be replaced, but the battery cover never even shifts, so I didn't bother. That was lost one night in a dark venue replacing the battery during a show.

34" scale maple neck, rosewood or pao ferro fretboard
Gotoh tuners, 5-in-line
Fender MIM Deluxe bridge
Suhr-designed pickups (factory)
Tortoise pickguard
Strung with DR Fat Beams (45-125)

It was just set up and is ready to play.

Crack in finish extending from the corner of the neck pocket towards the back of the bass:

Neck:

The B-string tuner is non-original, the string pole is slightly larger than the others. The original tuner will be included. (The back of the original tuner came off while it was being serviced, and the shop replaced it with the newer model, which has a wider pole.) The original goes with the bass if you want to try and get a replacement cover for the back.

I have a modded Yamaha BB450 with a Bart soapbar in the bridge (sounds like jazz pickup) and a three band Yamaha TRB preamp. The neck is somewhere between and jazz and P in wiiidth and depth; very comfortable.
