FS/FT Fender P Bass with Badass II and Seymour Duncan Reduced to $375 shipped

Sign in to disble this ad
I am selling my Fender MIM Precision Bass that has been upgraded with a Seymour Duncan SPB3 Quarter Pound pickup a tortise shell guard and a Badass II Bridge. It is in excellent condition with no dings or scrapes. It has only been played around the house. It includes the original tags and a tkl hardshell case. It looks much better in person than the pictures(I should have wiped the smudges off the body before I took pictures). Asking $375 shipped to lower 48 states. Will also consider trades for a Jazz Bass.

I really need to sell this one outright or trade it for a Jazz Bass. I am going to drop the price though...too tired from shoveling snow to dicker of price.

I have a weakness for that color with that pick guard. If that were MIA It would be outta here.

Can you tell us about the neck and action. Do you do your own setups or do you have a tech who does them, and how often is the truss rod adjusted? Are there any dead spots on the neck? Looks like the truss rod gets adjusted by the nut, correct?

I am interested in buying the bass if I can sell my MIA Precision. It is listed now on TB. I have subscribed to your thread so as to keep an eye on your bass. Thanks.

Al...Thanks for your reply. I do the setup on my own equipment. I am 42 years old and meticulous about the condition of my equipment. The neck adjusts at the nut and I only use a Fender Dealer neck adjustment tool (long red handled "T" wrench) to make the adjustments. I have played guitar for more than 30 years and will not let anyone else work on my stuff. The bass is set-up for playing finger so the action is fairly low and the neck is straight. There are no dead spots on the neck neck and the Duncan Quarter Pound pickup is thick and punchy. I bought the bass from a buddy of mine and it was in mint condition when I bought it. I put the pickup, the allparts tortoise guard and the badass bridge. I played it a half dozen times at church and that's about all it's been played.

I hope this answers your questions...if you have any more let me know.

Thanks for the reply. I am also 42 but I only recently began working on my own basses...

Only other questions I have are how heavy is it, and how would you say the QP's sound compared to the originals, and compared to Dimarzio DP 122's if you have heard them. I have them on my P now and I really like them.

Thanks!

I'm not an expert on pickups..but the stock pickup was very thin sounding and very plain. The Duncan has very full and thick but still has a nice mid-range. The weight of the bass is not terribly heavy. I have owned a few music man stingrays and I love the looks and the sound...but all have been too heavy. It is not like that. It has some heft but it is a nice balanced weight. I don't know the exact weight and my bathroom scale doesn't work but it is not too heavy.
