$400 shipped OBO....
I have a 2001 MIM Fender P-bass Special that I am offering for sale or trade. It is a P/J bass with some nice upgrades. P-bass body (alder), Jazz neck profile(maple w/ rosewood 'board), 20 frets, original pickguard has been replaced with a nice tort 'guard. The bridge has been replaced with a Leo Quan BAII, but the stock bridge is included. Weight is about 9.2 lbs. on my digital scale. The bass will be professionally packed and shipped in a pretty nice Musician's Friend gig bag.

More about the bass:
The stock pickups have been replaced with Seymour Duncan Lightnin' Rods. In case you don't know about these pickups, they are active pickups with a V/V/T setup, similar to the EMG P/J set. However, they have a much more traditional tone than EMGs, and are able to cop both vintage and modern Fender tones very nicely. Also, the output of the J pickup is almost perfectly balanced with the P pickup, so there are no dropoffs when using one pickup or the other...you can solo each pickup or use them both together and the output stays much more consistent than any other P/J pickup combo I've ever heard. Also, the J pickup is silent and the pickups run off of a single 9-volt battery.
There are no dents or dings in the bass, just minor playing wear (light scratches). There are some issues with the fretwork, which pretty common for MIM Fenders from the early 2000s. The 17th fret is pretty high and it probably just needs to be hammered down and that would solve the problem. I have the action set medium to medium-high as a result. Notes fretted there make a dull thunking sound with no note, but I don't go up that high very often with this bass. It seems like it might be an easy fix, but I've never gotten around to getting it done and I'm too nervous about doing something like that myself. The bass is definitely playable in it's current condition and if you are the type of player who doesn't go past the 12th fret, you would probably never know there was a problem. It is currently strung with Fender 7150 nickel rounds. I just don't have a lot of use for this bass anymore. I use a 5-string on my gigs where I want a modern tone and I have a different P-bass that I use when I want more of a vintage tone, so it's just sitting around not getting played.
Sale price is $400 OBO, professionally packed and shipped in USA 48 with a gig bag. No trades please. No international shipping. Please send a PM with any offers/questions.
