FS/FT: Fender Prophecy II, MIJ, gorgeous!

Sign in to disble this ad
Here's a bass that doesn't show up very often!

FENDER PROPHECY II
Made in Japan (Fuji Gen, I believe. Essentially, a Heartfield)
Amazing Ash body (getting the beauty of the grain in pics is HARD, but see below)
Nice Maple neck with Rosewood board
Active, 2-band EQ (all knobs original and present and in good shape)
Super-lightweight (c. 8.5 lbs)
Amazing tone!
Low action and slim, flat neck (1.5" nut)
Quick release brass bridge

$375 + shipping FIRM.
(I'll put it in a Fender molded case, which is like new, for $50 extra.)
Paypal only, US only (I've had a LOT of problems int'l shipping, so I don't want to do it anymore).

The last bass like this that I saw for sale was on Ebay and it went for $500. Like I said, these are rare to find for sale, so they are also hard to price. If you have a serious interest, PM me an offer and we can talk.
The condition of this particular bass is extremely good. There's minimal fretwear, no chips, dings, or cracks, and only minor scrapes at the tip of the headstock and a slight fade of the bridge gold. It's all stock, as well. This is great for the collector, as well as the player, as it sounds and plays fantastically.

I had a Fender/Heartfeild Prophecy III, which is the neck thru version of this bass, back in the day. It was the bass that I credit for my current preference of neck thrus. It was an wonderful bass, great for the money and the action was incredibly low. The weakness was their electronics, but easy enough to overcome.

The electronics' controls are kind of basic, but these feel so nice and work fine. The pots on this feel better than most anything else I've ever used!
For the bassist looking for minimal complication, the simple 2 band is fantastic. And the pickups have a modern, hi-fi tone that works well.

I added more specs above, as I know a lot of people want details.

Bumperooksi!

I have my sights on another bass, so this needs to be sold.
PM if interested in a rare, beautiful, non-Fenderish Fender

I've seen the pics... so this may be the best bass for metal...?

Anyway, I'm not doing the trades for now. Just wanted to mention that. Found a Musicman that I'm auditioning, so this is just for sale now, no trades.

If I change my mind (and I might), I'll keep posted.
And don't forget... I'm open to offers.

Well, what I know for fact is they made the Prophecy from 91-93.
That said, according to this page: Heartfield Central - Prophecy I/II/III , they were only made in 91...

I don't know how to date it by serial, since that site claims the basses had serials from "A" to "E" and this starts with "P".

Here's what's in the neck pocket, with no date stamp unfortunately...

That's all I've been able to find, unfortunately. Experts, I welcome anything you can tell me.

Last bump with price drop... I'll keep it if it doesn't go for $375.
